Oh, yes, even better.

Fred---I want to add my congrats on winning that Wagonmaster picture! Did you post a picture of it? I'd love to see what it looks like. I just won a still taken on set during filming of They Were

Expendable. I'll try to scan it tomorrow and post it here or in "Rambles". I was amazed

I had no contending bidders, I've lost so many bids that I had no expectations.

I certainly don't mind at all if you post it here, in fact I would be happy if you did, but you might get more response in another thread.

I can't wait to see it. I got to watch RM in a really odd Marion Davies movie today. The name of it has slipped my mind already.....

Was the movie Blondie of the Follies? Where she played the friend of the chorus

girl who resented Bobby's attentions to her? Marion was so good at playing down to

earth girls who just find themselves in hot water no matter what they do---and they're

just being themselves, no guile...love it! She's one of those performers who isrising

high in my esteem. I've recorded several of her movies today, inlcuding a couple of

silents. I wish I'd gotten Paging Gloria recorded---it came on before I had time to pop

in a new DVD-r and I didn't realize it had such a good cast (Mary Astor, Dick Powell,

Frank McHugh, who I love, and good old Pat O'Brien).

Okie dokie, here's my scan of the Ebay still photo taken on the set of They Were Expendable.

It looks to be an original, there's some faded typewriting on the back, describing who is in the

picture and a little synopsis about TWE. It's also rubber stamped: "APPROVED...Hollywood

Advertising Advisory Council...July 25, 1945".

It shows, L-R, Preston Foster (visiting from a neighboring set), Bobby Montgomery and John

Ford. I'm tickled by how Ford is sitting, his ankles crossed. And he teased John Wayne for

how he walked. Ha haaaa! So sweet.

I just clicked on a thumbnail from an earlier post, thinking I was going to see a photo of Ben J. sitting down with Ford and, what do you know, it was actually Robert Montgomery. A surprise, to be sure, but a most welcome one.

There are also some new screencaps, I see, from that great adventure flick, Mighty Joe Young. Can't wait to see that one again, he's so chivalrous with the young lady! :x

JackF -

Many many thanks for those screencaps! Both from *One Eyed Jacks* (still haven't seen it yet - that scene where he's in the chair on the porch reminds me of *My Darling Clementine* - and *Mighty Joe Young* (funny, clever captions).

This is from *The Last Picture Show* - maybe it'll tide you over.

Thanks, Cinemafan.

Yes, I guess I should have mentioned that I made up the captions..... I was in a silly mood last night.

I was thinking the same thing about the scene in One Eyed Jacks, it's almost a takeoff of the shot in My Darling Clementine.... but where Fonda is relaxed and cool, Ben is bored and irritated. I wonder if Brando was a John Ford fan, or studied his films at all? I guess we'll never know.

Thanks for posting that picture. That is one of the best photos I've seen from Last Picture Show. It really shows his strength of character and the lingering sadness etched on his face.

I look forward to seeing that, Fred.

Great screencaps and captioning. It really looks like that was the dialogue!

Thanks for the congrats and congrats to you for TWE win. Also I just purchased a 8x10 from "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon" which I had never seen before. It's a publicity still of Wayne, Carey, Johnson, Agar and George O'Brien in full Calvary outfits standing on a small platform looking sideways at the camera. Sadly it's in black/white but I'll take it...

Oh, Yay! That's great, Fred! Do you keep your photos in an album or frame them or

otherwise display them? I would love to frame and hang more of mine but my place

is too small and would look cluttered if I did. So, I have most of my photos in a large,

scrap-book size album.

Since we moved to Washington last year I have more room so I have about a dozen hanging on the walls by my computer plus about 5 more in the guest bedroom and about 6 more hiding in a closet. All, my Photos and lobby cards are hanging on the wall.I have 2 one sheet posters over my PC,John Wayne in "The Seachers", it's a video release but it looks great and a Alan Ladd "Capt. Carey U.S.A. and some lobby cards with Tim Holt and Buck Jones and Jimmy Stewart and 2 repos half sheets with Buck Jones and Tim McCoy, the Tim McCoy poster had as 3rd billing in small letters John Wayne, these are repos also but they look good framed. About 3 months ago my girlfriend and I were in a antique store, aka junk store, and we saw a painting of John Wayne framed and she made the poor old guy get on a ladder and get it down and bought it for $ 20.00. Once I get familiar with the new printer I'm going to try and post some pics of my collection including the "Wagonmaster" and Yellow Ribbon gallery. But I'm starting to run out of wall space also.Have to start looking for bigger place.......
