Did anyone record Viva Villa?

Recommended Posts

I noticed a very sloppy-looking edit near the end, before Fay Wray gets shot, as Villa

grabs for Fay's character's dress. I assume he pulled it off and suspect that that scene remains intact in a foreign version somewhere. Think the film was a pre-code to start with, but got

released after the code became enforced. It was probably necessary to sanitze that scene in

order to get pic released.

"Viva Villa" (originally released April 27, 1934) was re-released in about May 1935, after the Production Code got stricter, so the scene you saw with the sloppy-looking edit could very well be cut down to make it okay for post-code release.

Poor Fay Wray... always having some big gorilla pulling her dress off!
