BrianCharles
Saw "The Unsuspected" yesterday on TCM, a fabulous 1947 film with Claude Rains. But I'm thinking if another film that also used then-new technology in the plot (as Rains did with a record mastering device). This other plot revolves around a pianist/murderer who leaves a record playing in his locked study, while he pretends to be rehearsing, when he is actually murdering someone. Please help me identify this film! And where can I get a copy of "The Unsuspected?" -- Brian Charles
RedHerring
Hi Brian! Could you be thinking of Preston Sturges' "Unfaithfully Yours" with Rex Harrison? I think that one is more about Harrison's fantasies/daydreams than actual murder, but I haven't watched it in ages. As for "The Unsuspected", I don't think it's ever been released on DVD, so your best bet is to record it when TCM airs it.
BrianCharles
Dear Red, Many thanks. I'll check it out. But I think the one I remember is a serious murder mystery. Why do you think The Unsuspected hasn't been released. It's a very good film. -- Brian
RedHerring
Well it's a Warner film, they might be planning to include it in a future Film Noir boxset. Sorry I couldn't be of more help with the movie you are trying to identify.
