lococardinal
I tend to think the best movies are the non prime-time gems that are not necessarily award winning movies. For instance I love Bogart movies but some of his biggest flicks Casablanca and Maltese Falcon I find boring. However Sierra Madre is fantastic. His lesser known movies to me are far greater than C and MF in my opinion. But I'm wondering if it's beyond TCM to show the B's. Especially 50's sci-fi's like maybe Invasion Of The Saucermen which is not of the same calibre as say Invasion Of The Body Snatchers. Or even something like Plan 9 From Outer Space. Or given that they do advertise the DVD's for the Japanese Star Man movies and The Mexican Santo movies, is it unrealistic to see them aired on the network? alix1929
I'd even like TCM to show B movies from the 1930's as well. They don't have to be top quality (of course, a B movie usually wasn't) Variety is the spice of life and I for one would appreciate some new movies being shown. gwtwbooklover
yes showing some different movies would be nice though don't get me wrong i like the ones they do show. am i wrong to assume that ted turner owns the little jewels he shows on tcm. this would account why thet may seem repeatitive to some people. what exactly constitutes a B movie anyway. by the way lococardinal ever seen amovie called 3 on a match? it has bogey in it for a bit and a young betty davis
classicsfan1119
TCM does show a great many movies that were considered to be "B" movies, even in their day. If it's the Genre "Sci-fi" that you want to see more of, another channel (the Sci-fi Channel) is a good bet to have them. The few of this Genre that TCM does show are usually the "cream of the crop" because of them being Classics.
deeanddaisy666
lococardinal, I'd have to say that TCM is the ONLY place you're going to see charming b/w 'B' movies from the 1930s and 1940s. If they're not, then Costco hasn't been getting lots of my money for tapes since Cablevision started carrying TCM, only ten years after the fact. And they have! I've been a taping fool since the beginning of the year, thank you TCM. And every single movie has been a black and white gem (my preference, I admit, MY preference) with sometimes 'B' actors (Warren William, I love you), and always atmospherically gorgeous. No, I don't think they're all classics, look especially for those shown in the wee hours of the night. You won't be sorry!
harlowkeatongirl
Show B-movie classics? Isn't that what AMC does?
nickdimeo
I'd like to see TCM air some B-Movies like on a Saturday Night at midnight (or anytime of the week). Have it like Syncopation Station, or Silent Sunday Night. Maybe it could be called Cheapie After Midnight, or something.
kenwal34
I have never saw many classic B movies on AMC. There were many B films made, not only by major studios, but so called poverty row studios such as Monogram,PRC,Allied Artists, etc. Some were gems, some bombs, but all have a place in our film genres and should be seen to be appreciated. It would be nice if TCM could find a place for some of these obscure films. alix1929
I love THREE ON A MATCH, but don't know if it qualifies as a B-movie, with Bette Davis, Ann Dvorak, Joan Blondell & the delicious Warren William!
gwtwbooklover
i don't consider 3 on a match a b-movie but since lococardinal expressed a liking to bogey i thought i'd ask loco if they saw it. i like bogey's line "i give you one guess what she wrote on her dress" Bogey always got cool lines. i think he's listed in the credits on this movie way down the list if you will. you know one of the many small roles he had before he hit it big seemed to play bad guys or hoods. gwtwbooklover
I thought that I might be spelling her name wrong. opps. I stand corrected-thanks eddie btw about 3 on a match I think I misquoted the movie or Bogey's line he says more or less I'll give you one guess what she does with the lipstick. btw I'm lucky to spell my own name correctly I think sometimes.
