Jeff, don't worry too much about who does or doesn't show up on a so-called "regular" basis. You are read and enjoyed. For various reasons, on many threads, people weave in and out, but it doesn't mean lack of interest. Some prefer lurking occasionally and don't feel like chiming in, who knows why? You are keeping the silents alive! Just keep doing what you love and "they" will come.

Hope you had a great holiday!

Johanna,

And TCM is airing Tod Browning's THE BLACKBIRD as part of the tribute with Renee Adoree for the first time since October of 2008.

Alas, THE DARK ANGEL (1925) is a famously lost and much sought after Silent. Highly praised as one of the greatest pictures ever made up until that time. However, THE NIGHT OF LOVE (1927) also with Colman and Banky does exist, and was recently leased to Warner Brothers. So hopefully, we might see it on TCM sometime.

Simply stated, I worship and adore Chaney Sr.

In my opinion, he's the greatest of them all, silent or sound.

He didn't even need make-up -- TELL IT TO THE MARINES is one of his best!

Hi, Jeff! Nobody knows the passion I have for the man of a thousand faces! Of course, it's more a matter of tremendous respect and admiration for his genius than the, uh, primitive feelings stirred within when it comes to Rudy, lol. Although, you know what? I could actually find myself falling in love with Lon quite easily...he had a sturdy physique, a strong yet sensitive face, and a humble, unpretentious, compassionate, generous spirit.

I think the only thing wrong with Tell it To the Marines is that Lon is actually very handsome in it, but he's playing this lug who thinks he's ugly. I'd go for him in a heartbeat. He was a tremendously handsome fellow with the sensitivity of the finest artist. It's such a rare combination. I adore him too. _THE_ MOST expressive actor ever.

Wendy, Johanna,

As you know Mrs. Goldwyn tragically had alll her husbands Silent films both the negatives and prints destroyed except for THE WINNING OF BARBARA WORTH. Fortunately, STELLA DALLAS, THE NIGHT OF LOVE and a few others turned up elsewhere in other collections So THE DARK ANGEL has been lost for decades. Probably since at least the late 40's. The MoMA had TWO LOVERS for a long time, but supposedly some of it has decomposed since they acquired it. I don't know how much of the picfure remains now?

I just have not been posting may photos in months here because fo many members have been absent. But I have dozens of pics backlogged.
