movieman1957 Posted June 13, 2009 The Bee Gees, having reinvented themselves several times throughout their career, have one of the more unusual stories in music. What's better is you are hitting some groups/ people I actually know.

Feel free to weigh in anytime you want and extrapolate some more...I *don't* mind at all... I am going forward through the seventies and then the eighties and then I'll cease and be through. movieman1957 Posted June 13, 2009 >I am going forward through the seventies and then the eighties and then I'll cease and be through. Why? The thing I admired most about the Gibb brothers was that after the disco era they ddn't just go away. They wrote and produced many other artists. Some of the more unlikely were Barbara Streisand, Dionne Warwick and Dolly Parton. All of them had huge hits. About 1989 or so they completely retooled their sound. Did so again in the early years of this decade. Maurice's death several years ago pretty much put an end to the Bee Gees as we know them but have continued working. 40 years of music is a pretty amazing feat. When the band was inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame, their citation said the following: >"Only Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks and Paul McCartney have outsold the Bee Gees." That's a pretty amazing feat, too...
