Jake's off topic music thread...

I loved that version of Danny Boy.

And Born Free - I have a dim memory of Andy's version playing whenever we went to the dime store. That and Strangers in the Night by Frank Sinatra.

Andy Williams is going to be a hard act to follow. His voice was so smooth, so controlled, he had breath control like nobody else.

>I had nothing to do with this. This is Jake's ever-eclectic list of favorites. He surprises me all the time. He has that gift.

CBL, feel free to continue your posting because I am sure there are many who enjoy your taste in music.

But, please, yes please, don't respond to every post I make...I can be very easy to get along with...

>ANDY WILLIAMS???? In Jake's thread?

>Now I've seen everything.

HI JF,

I first heard Andy Williams as a little fella. My mother was a stay-at-home mom who played a lot of his records and, of course, I heard 'em.

Mr Williams was a very big star in the sixties and seventies, too--very big.

No, I am not his biggest fan nor do I pretend to know his music like other performers but don't think I don't appreciate some of the finer things in life, even though I don't always understand them.

With that in mind...another one I've been holding for a while...Fred Astaire....

Hey Andy Williams is cool! Thanks for the links. I've always liked him. I have a few of his 45's (favorites are "Can't Get Used to Losing You" and "Happy Heart") and some LP's, too (his Christmas albums are favorites).

The song with Julie Andrews was very nice. I didn't know that one from any of their records. Anybody know if it's from a movie or show?

And did anyone notice that either Andy is reading the lyrics from a cue card, or he's afraid to look Julie in the eyes during their song!? He seems to be looking past her.

>I love Eric Burdon! Thanks Jake.

Hi JF,

You are welcome.

The Animals, imho, are under-appreciated for their musical works. They were in the shadows of the Beatles and Stones. But their music was very good. I always liked them.

Actually, the first group of Animals who worked with Eric Burdon were the guys who went into the R&R Hall of Fame with him not the guys in the clip I chose.

Eric Burdon has a very distinctive voice I will always remember.

Have a great weekend...

>Jake - hope it's not too late for more of the incomparable Eric Burdon and the Animals -

Those are great clips cinemafan...it's never too late for you to post...I think you are on the west coast so your time is a little different plus this thread is as much your thread as mine...

Two more great ones from Eric and The Animals...
