JackFavell
Help is an underrated album... they were starting to experiment with time and rhythm and instrumentation here. I think the music isn't given much thought as the movie overshadowed everything to do with the album. I like this one, which doesn't get played very much. I think it's very telling that the cover of HELP! Is the boys doing semaphore signals, supposedly of the word HELP but really spelling out NUVJ. The photographer decided that the letters HELP were not the most attractive way the boys could be positioned so they used the other letters instead. So Lennon's cry for HELP! as the band dealt with fame and depression, was subverted by a more pleasing image that wasn't real.

It was the beginning of experimentation. As I get older, I find myself liking those early days of the Fab Four better and better. Help is a great album. Hi JF, You are so right about his influence on George and the Beatles. You can hear his pace and rythm in their early music. I am glad you dropped in and you know I am always glad to hear from you from time-to- time...I do get lonely...hope all is well with you and your familty... JackFavell
Thanks for the Pete Seeger! I always drop in, even if I don't write every day. My family is well, but we are gearing up for the end of the school year and it's a busy time. School concerts, dance recitals, it's all popping up now. I hope you are doing well too! Loved your top five favorite westerns over in the westerns forum.
