Cinemartian
After all these years still bugging me. Can't seem to know what it was but I'd say mid/late 40's-early 50's. Possibly British production. English accents and I think it takes place off of London. War story, beautiful starlet(I remember good looking like a Donna Reed or something like a Janet Leigh,maybe...) and man(love story) on a small boat after being stranded from larger boat...? I don't know why I keep thinking Tyrone Power because I don't think its him. It's not Hitchcock's film and it's not the one with Lancaster either. It aired during summer of 2012, maybe as late as September but I'm thinking July, August. Worth a shot...
lavenderblue19
Were other people on the boat or just the man and woman ? If others were on the boat, then the film might be Abandon Ship starring Tyrone Power and the woman would be Mai Zetterling.
slaytonf
Hm. War. Small boat. Romance. English accents. Tyrone Power was in a small boat in Abandon Ship (1957), one of his best performances: http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/16168/Abandon-Ship/ But maybe Lifeboat (1944), with John Hodiak and Tallulah Bankhead: http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/81373/Lifeboat/ click on the READ THE FULL SYNOPSIS button to see a detailed description of the movie.

Cinemartian
YES. I'd really like to see the elusive Contraband. I missed the Peter Lorre 5:45 showing of Jack Cardiff yesterday. All these films I want to see
