Mae Murray film suggestions!

I'd like to see The Merry Widow again. The last time TCM showed this on Silent Sunday Night they listed the incorrect run time and my tape shut off during timer recording. I'd like to catch the end of this. With the likes of Von Stroheim directing, Mae Murray, and John Gilbert as stars this makes a pretty good trio.

Yesiree, Mae Murray for me, too, Jack! I'd love to see some of those Murray movies that broke box office records back in the roaring twenties! There's an interesting biography out on her, "The Self-Enchanted" that gives you the glossy outlines of her career but doesn't capture the charisma Murray must have had for her to be MGM's box office queen for five years. "Altars of Desire" sounds juicy, as does "Jazzmania."

Yes, I taped "Merry Widow" too and the ending was cut off my tape as well. A very big bummer! How long was that movie anyhow?

I also have the book "The Self Enchanted." I have it put away in a storage tote and I've never read yet!!!

I'm hoping TCM would give us a little bit of Mae Murray soon!

I'm afraid if you see Bachelor Apartment or any of The Princess Mdvani's sound films you will be taken aback. I thought Marie Prevost took the prize for disappointment in sound but Ms Murray's voice absolutely does not fit the image. Sad, because without sound, as in The Merry Widow, she is glorious.

I own the Bachelor Apt VHS, and I laughed very much with Mae Murray's impersonation of the mischevious and flirtatious wife, who's buggin' Lowell Sherman...also in it Claudia Dell, a virginal Irene Dunne, Lester Vail?...I get mixed with the 1931 "Consolation Marriage" with Dunne, Pat O'brien adn Myrna Loy,...not as funny or risqu? as "Bachelor" but worthwhile too...

I feel the same about "Jazz Mania", "Altars of Desire", "The Masked Bride", "Valencia"....I'd love to watch them...Also "The Exquisite Sinner" with Ren?e Ador?e...those pictures sound so intriguing....
