brandoalways4ever
This man is a truly talneted actor. I feel he's underrated as an actor. I also love his voice and the way he pronounces his words. He does it so sophisticated like. Anyone else love him?
HollywoodGolightly
I like Dana - a lot! He was great in the film noirs he made, especially the Otto Preminger ones, but he was also quite good in some very different kinds of films, like the R&H musical State Fair (1945). brandoalways4ever
First off...I love the pics!!!! He has such a nice smile and a handsome some face. He truly did prove he could do more than film noir. I feel in love with him after seeing him in The Best Years of Our Lives. He should have won an Oscar.
HollywoodGolightly
You're right - it's a shame he never won an Oscar. Here's another photo - doesn't he look cute with that hat? :x
brandoalways4ever
Yes he does! The expression he's making with his mouth makes him look even cuter. He's such a handsome man. I don't know why Hollywood overlooked him for an Oscar. Do you know of any good sites for him? I wish he'd get a box set.
HollywoodGolightly
A DVD boxset would have to be released by Fox Home Video, I guess, since he made most of his movies at that studio. And I don't know any good DA sites off the top of my head, but I'll let you know if I come across any.
brandoalways4ever
Hopefully Fox will put out a box set for him soon. I wonder what films will be included? I hope to find some good sites. Are there any soudns tracks to his films? Also...has he gone shirtless in many movies?
HollywoodGolightly
Sorry, not sure about that. I like him fully clothed just fine.
brandoalways4ever
I love physiques.
HollywoodGolightly
I think he may have had a fine physique, but to me his face and voice are what made him stand out as an actor.
brandoalways4ever
And I couldn't agree more. He has a wonderful voice. One of the all time best. He speaks so clearly and sophisticated like. And he does have a very handsome face. Are there any books on him?
HollywoodGolightly
I haven't had a chance to look up any biographies that may have been written on him yet, but I will.
DownGoesFrazier
I don't understand how Fredric March was nominated ( and won!) instead of Andrews. March was a great actor, but this was not one of his best roles, and Andrews was the key to the film.
brandoalways4ever
I have to disagree. I think Fredric more than deserved his second Oscar for this. He was, as always, incredible. I think Dana should have won many many Oscars.
ILoveRayMilland
I ADORE Dana Andrews. In fact, he's my favorite actor (tied with four others). He was truly amazing! Someone mentioned they'd like to see a good Dana website. One that I found that is pretty good is: http://themave.com/Andrews/
brandoalways4ever
That is a terrific site. I love the pic of Dana. Thank you! I appreciate it!!!!
sineast
The one repeated criticism I've heard of Dana Andrews was that his face always seemed somewhat immobile and didn't seem to change expression much, whatever the situation. Maybe it was just that he seemed to play the stern stoic type fairly often. Don't love him, but I've always enjoyed him in most of the movies I've seen him in, especially The Best Years of our Lives. Speak- ing of which, how about good old Virginia Mayo? Love her.
Poinciana
The look on Dana's face was classic when he looked upon Waldo Lydecker coming out of the bathtub. Would that TCM would show Laura! I agree about Virginia, even our illustrious Bette Davis said that Virginia deserved an Oscar for Best Years.
brandoalways4ever
That's probably what it was concerning his fscial expressions. He did play stern stoic characters alot. He's a brilliant actor.

brandoalways4ever
I don't own that one yet. It's one of the next Dana movies I'm getting.
fredbaetz
Always enjoyed his preformances,"A Walk in the Sun" is one of my all time favorites along with "Laura"[yes the bathtub smirk is priceless.and of course "Best Years....",and Frederic March did deserve the oscar, as great as Andrews is March is wonderful. Isn't Steve Forrest [swat] the tv series his younger brother?
HollywoodGolightly
fred, I looked up Steve Forrest on imdb, he is indeed Dana Andrews' brother. I don't think I ever watched SWAT on TV, but I've heard a lot about it. I'd love to watch Best Years of Our Lives again one of these days, because I haven't watched it since college; and being a pretty big fan of Dana, Myrna and Fredric... well I should enjoy it very, very much. Anyone here seen Zero Hour! ?
brandoalways4ever
Yes, Steve Forrest is Dana's brother. Why the different last name, though? Dana shoudl have won an Oscar for Laura.

Why the different last name, though? brandoalways, According to imdb, Steve's birth name is William Forrest Andrews. It's not uncommon for many folks in show business to change their names for any number of reasons.
