"Lifeforce" (1985)

Recommended Posts

This adaptation of Collin Wilson's novel " The Space Vampires" has a very promising beginning- with a real Alienesque vibe as the crew on a mission to track Haley's comet encounters a huge abandoned spaceship. The ship contains the remains of huge bat like creatures and three nude beautiful humanoids because you know in space it's better to be naked.  The aliens turn out to be energy sucking vampires that threatened to destroy the earth.  Directed by Tobe Hooper and co-written by Dan O'bannon this one should have been better- I think the second half of the film with zombies running around London seems more cheesy the scary.  Mathilda May who spend most of the movie naked is both sexy and creepy.   Steve Railsback is a bit too intense for the hero.  But there is a great supporting cast- Peter Firth, Frank Finlay and Patrick Stweart who has brief bur interesting close encounter with Railsback.  Great make up fx

Agree completely. It starts off fine, but the third act was way over the top.  The creature effects were great, as were the outer space sets, and I liked the way the decomposed corpses looked and then sprang to life. The eerie music helped alot.
