Please Identify Movie

Movie is from late 40’s or early 50’s and features a widower with a son and a widow with a daughter snowed in at a resort over Christmas.  Initially, both families do not get along.  Later, the children discover they like each other and that the parents should get together and make one happy family and in order to accomplish this they stage a fake abduction.

Sounds like And So They Were Married. The film stars Melvyn Douglas, Mary Astor and as the kids, Edith Fellows and Jackie Moran. A very cute film that is shown on TCM every so often.The film is a late 1930's film, however, as I recall the plot is as you described.  Hope this helps.
