Name the Oscar winner (pics)

Recommended Posts

It would be too simple to post pictures of Oscar winning actresses receiving their awards..so...what if I cut off their heads?  Think of it as "27 dresses on Oscar night".  Some are ridiculously easy...a few pretty tough..there may be more clues in the pics than just the clothes

Thanks Shutoo., Simone Signoret is an actress I like very much. I've read quite a bit about her and remember seeing her in photos in that gown at the Oscars.

I'm really out of my element here, but I think I can name a few.

#9 is an older woman, so I'm thinking it's Jessica Tandy, who won for "Driving Miss Daisy".

#14  I believe this is Jennifer Lawrence.  She won for "Silver Linings Playbook".

#20   I think this is Sissy Spacek, who won for "Coal Miner's Daughter".

9. excellent deduction!

14. Not only is Ms Lawrence's dress remembered for it's style, but it proved to be a bit too much when she was climbing the stairs to receive her statue..got to be every nominee's worst nightmare...Jennifer Lawrence Funny Falls at Oscars Will Make You Laugh -02

that leaves 4, 10, 16, and 27  (I'm surprised no one has guessed 27..it's considered one of the more iconic gowns)

I'm resorting to using my knowledge of fashion history to guess decades, then making deductions. #4 has got to be a horrible 80s dress, so is #4 Sally Field (aka "You like me, you really like me")?

Indeed..is usually named as the most expensive oscar dress of it's time, the French blue satin alone was 4 grand for the Edith Head design. I've never seen one of those 'best oscar dress' lists that didn't name this one. here's the rarely seen rear view:  William Holden awaits Grace Kelly with her Oscar for The Country Girl, in which he was her co-star, 30 March 1955

Only 10 left..hint..she wore this dress when she received her last acting oscar...

Ingrid Bergman - Best Supporting Actress Oscar for "Murder on the Orient Express"

that's it! here she is with her Oscar for Murder on the Orient Express..certainly more colorful than her dress 30 years earlier when she won for Gaslight  Choco Toujours: And Best Dressed Oscar goes to... 1929 to 2013 Best Actress dresses

------------

That's a wrap on the headless Oscar winning actresses's quz!  It looks like Lavenderblue got the early jump, and ID'd the most!

Hope you had as much fun with it as Sally Kirkland seems to be having in a memorably bad ensemble on the Oscar red carpet                          27a6658d5a74aa507356abe90b2dc51c.jpg

Thanks for playing!!
