speedracer5
With the July schedule posted, we should soon find out this year's Summer Under the Stars honorees (we'll probably find out in May). I know we do this every year, but who would you like to see featured? Here are mine: Not in any particular order: 1 Joan Blondell 2 Ann Blyth 3 John Garfield 4 Carole Lombard 5 Charles Coburn 6 Dorothy McGuire 7 Ida Lupino 8 Ann Dvorak 9 Eleanor Parker 10 Jack Carson 11 Claude Rains 12 Paulette Goddard 13 Mitzi Gaynor 14 Ann Sheridan 15 Robert Ryan 16 Barry Sullivan 17 Eve Arden 18 Laraine Day 19 Don Ameche 20 Joan Bennett 21 Anne Baxter 22 Jeanne Crain 23 Cesar Romero 24 Vincent Price 25 Burt Lancaster 26 Tony Curtis 27 Jack Lemmon 28 Coleen Gray 29 Tyrone Power 30 Edmond O'Brien 31 Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.
TopBilled
There are about ten I'd like to see get a Summer Under the Stars day. First, I want to thank TCM's programmers for honoring Dorothy Malone last year...I felt her recognition was well-deserved. Also, TCM honored others in recent years like Ricardo Montalban and George Sanders that were equally deserving. Okay, these are the ones I'd like to see given their due in August: Carole Landis George Murphy, lots of RKO and MGM films Margaret Rutherford, representing character actresses Lee J. Cobb, representing character actors Sally Field, representing the 70s and 80s Farley Granger Yvonne De Carlo Robert Preston Julie Andrews Lee Van Cleef, lots of spaghetti westerns
LawrenceA
Klaus Kinski Joan Blondell Timothy Carey Allison Hayes Conrad Veidt Yvette Vickers Tatsuya Nakadai Pam Grier Monica Vitti Tod Slaughter Linda Darnell Takashi Shimura Anita Ekberg Joe Don Baker ZaSu Pitts Fred Williamson Patsy Kelly Lino Ventura Jeannette Nolan Olsen & Johnson Barbara Steele Paul Naschy Mary Woronov Donald Pleasence Claudia Cardinale Mantan Moreland Lee Van Cleef Setsuko Hara John Hurt Gale Sondergaard Oliver Reed I would absolutely adore this lineup, but the majority of TCM viewers would likely despise it.
Brrrcold
Good calls on George Murphy, Robert Preston (esp. if they show BEAU GESTE) and Margaret Rutherford. I'd ask for: Robert Donat Jean Arthur Jean Seberg Louis Calhern Shelley Winters Van Heflin

Wow! Lots of people I've never even heard of, which isn't a bad thing of course. I would also enjoy a Linda Darnell or Gale Sondergaard day. Allison Hayes is the lady in Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, correct?

Sepiatone
I wonder HOW LONG it took some of you to dig up all those obscure character actor/actress names on a couple of those lists. And if some are going THAT route, let's add: ELISHA COOK Jr. NEVILLE BRAND STROTHER MARTIN ROBERT WILKE JAMES WESTERFIELD ALAN HALE ANTHONY CARBONE Sepiatone

Sepiatone
Heh....Yeah, and in many cases, I'm surprised if MOST of the names listed DIDN'T get a SUTS day(or days). Sepiatone
jinsinna13
My wish list (in no particular order): Ann Sheridan, Ida Lupino, Gloria Grahame, Donna Reed, Annette Funicello, Roy Scheider, Donald O'Connor (so underrated), John Gavin, Troy Donahue, Hugh O'Brian, Gloria DeHaven, Eve Arden, Dorothy Lamour, Ava Gardner, Robert Montgomery, Robert Young (long overdue), Tyrone Power, Burt Lancaster, Gregory Peck, Charles Bronson, Yul Brynner, and Robert Vaughn. Some of these are long shots, but we'll see.

Sepiatone
Well, since I've never seen ANY of THE HUNGER GAMES movies or television presentations, and since the books only go back 10 years(or thereabouts), that reference really isn't all that "old" is it? And therefore, new to me. Sepiatone

midwestan
I think TopBilled offered a comprehensive list of stars in alphabetical order that have never been given a Summer Under The Stars day. It was on a thread under 'TCM Programs', and while I admit I didn't look very hard for it, I wasn't able to locate it right away. Anyway, depending on the length of each film, you could get about 10-15 or so movies featuring a man or woman who have a big enough body of work to feature. Some of my favorites I'd like to see include: Ralph Meeker, Virginia Grey, James Craig, Harry Morgan, Frank Morgan, Spring Byington, Lucile Watson, Gladys George, Ray Danton, Ethel Barrymore, Yvonne De Carlo, Dan Duryea, Lisabeth Scott, Burl Ives, Orson Wells, Suzanne Pleshette, Ray Collins, Turhan Bey, Wendy Hiller, Flora Robson.

midnight08
This is a long shot but why doesn't TCM give Alice Faye a day during SUTS? She was a 20th Century Fox star but TCM has shown Tyrone Power and Betty Grable in the past and they were basically Fox stars as well.
TopBilled
I'm all for this suggestion. Alice Faye's movies are always a pleasure to watch. Many other Fox stars have had days in August. Why not her...
Barton_Keyes
Once again, TCM's programmers are letting TCM Backlot members select two honorees this year, from four options. Backlot members have to select between Robert Ryan and Joel McCrea for the male stars, and Ruth Roman and Ruth Hussey for the female stars.
Dr. Somnambula
I looked up Michael Rennie on Rotten Tomatoes, and well, movies they rated only came to 11. The math turned out to be about 19 hours. Could be other stars that don't have enough titles, or movies that TCM could get.
