Bibi Andersson R.I.P. (1935-2019)

Swedish actress Bibi Andersson has died. She was a frequent co-star in the films of Ingmar Bergman, including Smiles of a Summer Night (1955), The Seventh Seal (1957), Wild Strawberries (1957), The Magician (1958), The Devil's Eye (1960), Persona (1966), The Passion of Anna (1969), and Scenes from a Marriage (1973), among others. She also appeared in films for other directors, both in the U.S. and in Europe, including Duel at Diablo (1966), The Kremlin Letter (1970), I Never Promised You a Rose Garden (1977), Quintet (1979), and Babette's Feast (1987).

One of Bergman's great muses (along with Liv Ullmann). She had been incapacitated for the past 10 years by a stroke.

The last thing I remember seeing her in was the 2003 British television drama "The Lost Prince," the story of Prince John (1905-1919) -- the youngest child of Britain's King George V and Queen Mary. Andersson portrayed Queen Akexandra -- the boy's grandmother, who was the paternal great-grandmother of Queen Elizabeth II,
