Much more interesting than just trotting out the same, overplayed titles yet again.
Hibi
I wish TCM was this proactive paying for more film premieres on its REGULAR schedule. Just goes to show, they have the money to pay for it when they want to!

mr6666
Ava DuVernayVerified account @ava 4h4 hours ago This was a geeky black girl filmlover’s dream. Thanks to @TCM for inviting me to share films that I love all year. Starting May 4 through December, I screen some of my favorites and talk them out with the fab @BenMank77. Had a total blast. Hope you enjoy! xo
CinemaInternational
Nice to see mention of Claudine from 1974. It's really a wonderful film, and Diahann Carroll and James Earl Jones both shine in it.

mr6666
Ben MankiewiczVerified account @BenMank77 6h6 hours ago Yes! Breaking classic movie news. Working w/ @Ava - man, just listening to her discuss these films - was like a film course from a favorite teacher. @ava was challenging - not personally (exactly the opposite) - but critically. She will open up the manner you take in movies. @tcm

(remember that?) Oh, yes, I do remember that. Must have been around 2012 or 2013. There were a lot of international films and 60s/70s/80s films that dotted the schedule on the nights when it aired. Well I was at least halfway serious about Cavett, considering all the classic stars he had extended interviews with during the run of his show - and he is still with us. But I suppose you could just pop those up on Youtube or similar.
GGGGerald
Yeah, back when there were only 7 channels to watch, those stars had no where else to go. Let's not make these hosts "great" just because great stars appeared on their shows. Frankly, I don't think much of today's talk hosts. They are deathly afraid to ask any real questions that viewers want answers to. Because then the stars won't return to the show. Old =/= great or classic

I remain highly skeptical of the "out with the old, in with the new" mantra, especially considering this is the TCM message board.

I meant those two particular people. If they were relevant, they would be sought after for their opinions. And they aren't. And there is a reason for that. There is a big difference between stars and those who merely interviewed the stars. Let's not confuse the two. You will never ever hear me demean an actor from that golden age. But, those who were just tangentially involved in Hollywood, its a case by case basis. In this day in age, all people should have an opportunity. Not only those who thrived when the opportunities were limited. All of the past was not glorious. Some parts need to be left in the past.
