THE LONGEST DAY - anyone notice how gorgeous this film still is?

Recommended Posts

Saw this movie when it came out, in the theatre---(so huge you just about have to see it there).

Impossible to finance without filming in Black and White---and so much better because of this, IMHO.

Talk about tracking shots---the helicopter shots of the French army attacking the Casino are stupendous.

And, in the final scenes we get up close with Richard Burton and Richard Beymer, (2 of the most adorable actors who ever lived) for their scene together lost in the wilderness of France.

Jeffrey Hunter gets the scene that all heroes would want to be remembered for, and is unforgettable.

The Nazi who first sees the ships coming says "there must be 5,000 ships out there"---actually, there were 7,000, on D-DAY.
