Det Jim McLeod
TCM is loaded with psycho killers this morning. "The Strangler" stars Victor Buono as psychotic murderer of nurses. If you have never seen it and you like lurid 1960s films about mad killers I highly recommend this one. Buono has a rare leading role and he is excellent, being very menacing and somewhat sympathetic at times. Ellen Corby plays his nagging mother who drives him to kill. The B&W cinematography is outstanding, the sets are low budget but I didn't mind that. Please let me know what you think if you have ever seen it or watch it for the first time today. It is on at 9:30AM EST.

jameselliot
It's not made clear if Tally survives the attack. The typical ending of the rescued girl clinging to the cop is absent. The ending of The Strangler is abrupt.

I have seen this many times and never noticed that about Tally (played by cute Davey Davidson). Oh well, it's very clear what happens to Leo Kroll. scsu1975
Buono is quite good in this, right down to the way he sweats while he strangles. But there are some silly moments. For instance, when Tally decides to pack up and leave, first she strips down to her underwear (but keeps her high heels on). Then she slips on a robe and starts packing. How many people do this? Only potential victims of serial killers.
