swingtime1943
Hi, Could anyone tell me where I might be able to obtain a copy of "Blondie Johnson" on either video or DVD ? I checked the TCM listings, but it's not scheduled to be aired -- I have heard that it has been shown in the past. I collect movie posters and was fortunate to pick up the title lobby card for this film -- I like to have copies of the movies that I own the posters for. Thanks for any help you can provide. hassan974
BLONDIE JOHNSON is unavailable on video at present. I taped it from TCM twice. I like Joan Blondell so anything she does works for me. Other's might find the film a routine programmer. Blondell's mother dies of pneumonia as a result of no heat in her mother's backroom apartment. A hardened Blondell is cautioned by a priest to find her life legitmately. Having had enough of prayer and convention she embarks on a life as a con artists and achieves success with her newly formed gang. Despite Blondell's resistance she falls for a member of her gang (Chester Morris) and, despite the inevitable payback, they agree to going straight and making a new life for themselves after paying for their sins. It's nothing great, played the second half of a double bill in 1933. But it is Blondell giving her usual solid performance in some not so solid films. swingtime1943
Thanks for the information -- that's much more detail than I've been able to obtain on the movie anywhere. Hopefully, some time in the future, TCM will replay it. Dave
