"Yes we can can!" said Little Nicola.

Lou Reed being Vicious with a Bettie Page photo gallery. I've always

preferred Bettie's sunny beach girl shots to the S&M black leather and

whip look. From the little I've read about her, Bettie was anything but

vicious.

Willie and the Poor Boys, yeah. My favourite CCR tune has always been Up Around the Bend. I like the line, "come away, come away, if you're going - leave the sinking ship behind." Wonder if the captain of the Costa Concordia had this on his iPod.

Today, for your psychedelic delectation, a fey little number from Traffic, complete with flutes (or recorders, or something) and a child's narration. Oh, wow, man. The Hole in My Shoe:

I like most of CCR, one of my favorites is Lodi, which I've already posted.

Oh Lord, stuck in Lodi again. Yep. I know it's played endlessly, but I still

like Proud Mary. Maybe the captain should have been listening to Don't

Stand So Close to Me.

Traffic did have that psychedelic thing going for them, especially in the early

days. Very enchanting. One of their early album covers has them posed in

what looks like a little cottage, noodling around. A perfect fit for the times.

Apparently today is the 60th anniversity of Queen Elizabeth ll's ascension to the throne. Diamond Jublilee. Festivities have been planned to last six months ( one month for every ten years, I assume.)

As soon as I heard this, I thought of Otis and his dedication to the ruler of Britain.I knew he'd be excited to hear the news.

In honour of the royal occasion, I give you Chuck Berry and his paen to Little Queenie:

Sixty years of dreadful hats and zombie-like pomposity. There was a picture

today accompanying an article about her anniversary and I swear she was

wearing a hat that, with just one or two adjustments, looked like one of those

little crotched covers for "bathroom tissue." Yikes, talk about a slow learning

curve. I will admit that, as a young woman, she was fairly attractive. Go Little

Queenie is probably not only my wish, but that of a certain aging Prince of

Wales. Well, I won't be sending a gift, but maybe the Real IRA will. ]:)

Six months? I wonder if Jacko's isolation chamber is still around somewhere?

Well, we'll go from Youth ( or yute) to adulthood. Here's a quirky little Canadian group from the late '80s; they called themselves The Pursuit of Happiness. This is kind of a fun video, although he certainly doesn't make being an adult sound like any fun.

I'm an Adult Now :

Well I'm one of those Americans that feel Britain should just do away with the entire royal order. To me it is just downright silly. People are not special because of birth. I would rather hang out with the guy who owns Virgin Airlines (just an example of someone that I find interesting), than the entire so called royal family.

Time to end this folly. We have the Kardashians and they have the royals! Both not worth a hill of beans.

No, except for the fact that they're a group of useless, slack-jawed parasites,

I have nothing against the royals, especially as we Americans don't have to

contribute one penny to their room and board.

Or Chuckles. Hey Chuckles, why are you bringing a IED into Buckingham

Palace? I do feel a little sorry for the guy. The old bag just won't let go. You'd

think she'd let him rule for a few years until the grandson takes over. Sad.

Pretty good straight ahead rock. Of course we Yanks can appreciate

the group's name. But there is always some spoilsport to point out,

and it's true, to pursue happiness doesn't mean to necessarily catch

it.

So, did anybody actually watch/listen to the video I posted, or are you all too busy blathering about the royal family? Can we move on? X-( Funny thing is, I'm the one who brought it up and now wish I hadn't.

I can't help it, Miss W, I love to rag on the royals when they come up,

especially in the light of the last fifteen years or so. They have been

looking pretty dysfunctional on occasion. And you have to remember

our country was founded by giving the boot to British royalty, though

we tend to suck up to them now.

Speaking of another of my least favorite Englishers, the Smiths had a

charming little tune titled Margaret on the Guillotine. Two guesses. :D

(not the Princess).

Well, I sort of agree with you, but I think of them more as sort of mascots for the UK. They're pretty good at that. They are too expensive, though.
