NipkowDisc
one of the biggest known blunders in academy history. that is why we should judge our own music and not leave it to a group of arrogant hollywood elitist schtootzes. if they can't recognize exemplary music when they hear it why trust them with anything else? EricJ
It is bad enough that I have an eternal grudge against the Oscars' new neurotic Golden-Globes fixation singlehandedly killing the Best Picture front-runner momentum for Pixar's Inside Out (2015) dead in its tracks. But that it should also take Michael Giacchino's score with it? Somebody in the HfPA DIES. ☠️😡 (But who are we to interfere with Nip's busy discussion with himself about Goldsmith and Paramount shtootzes?...See, the rest of us got confused from the header, and thought the thread would be about MORE than one movie. 😄 )

CinemaInternational
Should have been nominated: John Barry's achingly romantic score for Somewhere in Time in 1980. That it wasn't even nominated (even though the film disappointed at the box office, it wasn't as though the Oscars completely ignored it thanks to a costume nod) is appalling. Sukhov
This one was from before there was a reward for scoring, I believe but it should have won for Best Song at the least. It was not even nominated.
