TopBilled Posted August 15 It's the third time Davis has received this honor. She was previously TCM's Star of the Month in 1999 and in 2006. They are devoting four full days to her, meaning there will be Bette Davis films all morning and all evening. They will show 51 of her feature films, spanning the years 1931 to 1987...plus a documentary about her.

jamesjazzguitar Posted November 6 Really enjoyed the first night of Bette Davis as SOTM; The run of films from one year, 1934, was nice and I had never seen The Big Shakedown and it has been years since I saw Jimmy the Gent and Fashions of 1934. Bette had some different "looks" in these films:
LsDoorMat Posted November 12 Oh darn it TB. I went and basically did what you did. But at least mine is in one list. Pardon the duplication if that is what I've done in your judgment. The entire list is Davis' filmography, including TV movies. I count 100 credited filmed appearances. Titles in bold indicate what is playing on TCM this month. TopBilled Posted November 12 Thanks LsD for your comprehensive list. CONNECTING ROOMS is the one I've been wanting to see. I think THE STAR is in the public domain, so that's why it airs on TCM.

It is in one of those Bette Davis DVD collections that WB put out about 15 years ago. I don't know how that happened.

I think they included it to complete the package of films for that DVD, but I have read elsewhere that it is in the public domain. It wasn't really a Fox production. It had been an independent production that gained release through Fox. After the distribution deal ended, Fox did not hold on to the rights. It's possible the producers sold it to WB, but I doubt it, because usually that happens when the studio plans to remake it. There was no remake. I think its copyright eventually lapsed and it fell into the public domain. WB uses it because they consider Bette Davis one of their stars, and it's free, so why not.
lpetiti Posted November 14 I wish Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte was airing. I finally got around to seeing Baby Jane after watching Feud, which also made me interested in seeing Charlotte. I think it's on Amazon Prime?

I believe they did change the schedule. I only made the point since I just watched Marked Women and the fact that this Davis film is one I "promote" since it isn't one of her more famous performances \ films, it is very well made and a sound "product" of the WB studio-system, and somewhat of a transitional year for Davis: 1937 films before her Oscar winning performance in Jezebel, then Dark Victory,,, and we all know the rest....
speedracer5 Posted November 17 I'm wondering if Marked Woman aired instead of the Bette Davis documentary Bette Davis: the Benevolent Volcano. I looked at Tuesday's schedule and the documentary isn't listed.

Lol Not sure a Davis and Wayne paring would have worked since, IMO, Wayne is only an "OK" actor. Of course Davis had male co-stars that were also only so-so as actors (George Brent), but in most of those films the male roles was secondary so a top notch actor wasn't necessary. Of course Flynn was at his best in The Sisters, giving a fine sensitive performance. Maybe Wayne could have done something similar.
TopBilled Posted Tuesday at 03:25 AM I think Davis would have done a good job in ROOSTER COGBURN, in the role Kate Hepburn played. That might have been an interesting way to have Davis and Wayne work together.
