Gone With the Whinny!

But the American Humane Association isn't the ASPCA. They're two entirely distinct organizations: the AHA was founded in 1877, ASPCA in 1866. Britain's SPCA (later RSPCA)was formed in 1824 and, forty-two years later, inspired Henry Bergh to create an American version.

I do know that the two organizations are different, but I'm not sure what the ASPCA has to do with protecting animals in movies. The only organization recognized by the Screen Actors Guild for the protection of animals in films and television is the AHA. I'm sure the ASPCA has commented or gotten involved over the years, but AHA is the organization for TV and film.

Just to let you know the reality of horse ownership in the US these days....with our economy tanking, people can't afford to properly take care of their animals. And recent closing of all US horse slaughter houses creates a practical problem for the disposal of euthenized horses, due to illness or injury. You can't just bury them in the yard, either.

Perfectly healthy, sound horses are being abandoned every day in the US. In my equestrian internet forums, there's a posting weekly about a "horse found in our driveway".

My board went up 30% last month and I've been unemployed since April. I live in fear of having to give my horse away. horse.gif

TikiSoo-Sorry about your unemployment, me too. Since last year. What is the upkeep of a horse? Say you have barn and stable, what are the other expenses, aside from ferrier and vet at times? Like food, what does it run? I still hope to fulfill my dream of owning one, but have no idea what it cost, and if I could, at some point, find a horse that needs a home, cool! I may be moving to upstate NY where I'll have some land, and, hopefully, a barn.
