jakeem
Bob Strauss @bscritic I enjoy and admire the art of dark cinematography. But the first half of #MaleficentMistressOfEvil is just too underlit to see what's going on. Frustrating, but you kind of understand why (and miss it a little) when things get brighter and more colorful for the silly third act. 2:27 PM · Oct 20, 2019·Twitter Web App
jakeem
Bob Strauss @bscritic Whether or not you find Nazi satire appropriate, can't deny #JojoRabbit has a mighty well-constructed script, terrific visuals, an awesome lead performance by 1st-timer #RomanGriffinDavis & jokes that land a good 90% of the time. jakeem
Bob Strauss @bscritic #BytheGraceofGod is as procedural, emotional, sometimes surprisingly humorous and bracingly, honestly human as an epic about survivors' struggles to bring down #CatholicChurch child abusers could be. #FrancoisOzon's superbly judged film is based on true stories from Lyon, France. 12:45 PM · Oct 25, 2019·Twitter Web App

jakeem
Bob Strauss @bscritic #DanKrauss' dramatized remake of his documentary #TheKillTeam is a perfectly fine study of murderous corruption among U.S. forces in Afghanistan. It should have left me more outraged than it did, but you don't need to be familiar with the doc to feel you've seen this story before 2:08 PM · Oct 25, 2019·Twitter Web App
