Bill Barr's alternate universe "investigation" has a goal: Right-wing authoritarian rule

Barr's "criminal investigation" of the Russia probe is the fruit of a long-running far-right plan to kill democracy

".....Barr is described as supremely confident in his beliefs, which is to say that his overweening arrogance is not an act put on someone who is overcompensating to hide insecurity. He believes in this theory and when it became obvious that former Attorney General Jeff Sessions was not long for the  job, Barr and his legal cabal appear to have seen the clueless and corrupt Donald Trump as a perfect instrument to test their theory, and perhaps set legal precedents that would enable future right-wing presidents to use the full power of the presidency to dominate American politics without regard to democratic norms or congressional checks and balances. Indeed, they had been setting the stage for such a man for decades.

It's also obviously the case that Barr, and perhaps his Reaganite cronies as well, are suffering from the malady known as Fox News Brain Rot, the symptoms of which are an extreme susceptibility to absurd right-wing conspiracy theories and an inability to believe anything that contradicts them.........

#ImpeachBarr Trends After Justice Department Reportedly Opens Criminal Inquiry Into Mueller's Russia Probe

.... "These reports, if true, raise profound new concerns that the Department of Justice under Attorney General William Barr has lost its independence and become a vehicle for President [Donald] Trump's political revenge," Representative Jerry Nadler, the chair of the House Judiciary Committee, ....

"AG Barr is our it control. Barr is trying to dismantle our justice system brick by brick solely to bodyguard trump. Barr should be impeached and stripped of his law licenses," he tweeted.

Both the Times and the Wall Street Journal, which corroborated the report from the Times, reported that

it was unclear what possible crime Durham could be investigating........

NEW: Justice Dept shifted its review of the Russia investigation to a criminal inquiry, giving Durham the power to subpoena witnesses, impanel a grand jury, and file criminal charges. All so Barr can deliver Trump a political victory. by

This is just a taste what’s to come. Combine Trumpian politics with presidential power and the results will be unlike anything that we have seen before.

Trump is using the DoJ to investigate his enemies. Instead of focusing on the traitors that helped Russia attack America, they are investigating the people that were working hard to protect our country. This isn’t normal, this isn’t a joke, this is a four-alarm **** fire.

for folks who think the gop is executing some grand plan: they aren't. this is the point of all these things, from gaetz, from trump, etc. its just to feed the fox news beast, which gets their base all het up, and prompts votes and money.

That’s the entire schtick for House Republicans like Gaetz, or Jim Jordan, or John Ratcliffe: converting acts of pro-Trump fealty into Fox hits that the president watches, thus earning his support and gaining power within the GOP.

The strategy succeeds because Trump:

1) watches hours of Fox each day

2) appreciates over-the-tip obsequiousness

3) eagerly accepts conspiracy theories that confirm that he did nothing wrong and it’s all a witch hunt.

Donald Trump has stated many times he welcomed impeachment, and did criminal acts, often in the open on a nearly daily basis.  HE has brought this in himself, forcing the hand of congressmen who swore an oath to defend the constitution and the rule of law.  Trump keeps giving them more ammunition; he can’t help himself- he is a born criminal and has been all his life.

trump thinks most Americans are as dumb as his supporters.

But within the last 24 hours are so, he's gotten a little education-- at the World Series and in Chicago.

No matter how hard he may try to convince himself, the Majority of Voters in this country didn't vote for him.

He can have controlled rallies and controlled speeches.

But when it gets down to the real nitty-gritty and he's out in the real world,

Americans are gonna tell it like it is.

Thing is, I do know a few Trump supporters who don't really have a lot of hatred for much of anything.  Except "liberals", of which I know several who have the same level of hate for conservatives. But these people do have plenty of the other four!  ;)

Whataboutism involves accusing others of offenses as a way of deflecting attention from one's own deeds and attempts to discredit an opponent's position by charging them with hypocrisy without directly refuting or disproving an argument- it's based in Soviet/Russian propaganda.
