Yeah, it was a strong year. My vote would have been for the folks who made WITNESS.

1181 is the only one I haven't seen. The best of the bunch IMO are 1184, 1188 and 1189. I hate 1190, for I cannot stand Whoopi Goldberg.

The rest I like to watch once in awhile.

I don't think TCM's aired 1181 since Crawford was Star of the Month a few years ago. They don't show her silent films nearly enough.

1183 is way too long. At least a half hour should have been cut from it. Katina Paxinou, not pictured, is the best thing in it. Plus it's fun to see Kirk Douglas at that early stage of his movie career.

I'm not really a fan of 1184, which probably explains why it took so long for me to include it on these daily lists. LOL

Like you I don't exactly care for Whoopi Goldberg, but I do enjoy watching SISTER ACT. Kathy Najimy and Maggie Smith are in it, so that helps!

I will concede that SISTER ACT is barely watchable because thanks to Kathy Najimy and Maggie Smith, but my goodness, just too much of Whoopi  in it to take for me.

1188 one either loves it or hates it. It still scares the pants off of me even to this day. My mom hates it though so you are not alone in your disdain for it.  Even though I like it, I understand completely why people would hate the film.

1184 is the one I don't particularly like. I actually haven't seen 1188 though I've seen rip-offs.

Oops, I got the numbers mixed up. I am a bit surprised you don't like that one, but I'm not one to talk, there are dozens of 'classics' that everyone loves that I despise.

What I don't like about 1184 is that I feel the script goes out of its way to exclude women. I also don't care for THE WOMEN (1939) for this reason in reverse, that it goes out of its way to exclude men. I prefer the remake THE OPPOSITE SEX (1956) better, because I feel it's more representational and balanced.

1182 is Union PacificI saw a chunk of it when TCM aired it last year or so, but I haven't seen the whole thing.

1184 is The Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Yes

1186 might be Some Came Running. I've seen it if it is.

1187 must be The Happiest Millionaire, which finally aired on TCM not too long ago, but I missed it, so no.

1188 is The Excorcist. Yes.

1189 is On Golden Pond. Yes.

1190 is Sister Act. No.

I don't know the others.

Only three I'm sure I've seen, maybe four.

Ha ha, I think I saw part of it back when I had this elaborate cable package with all the HBOs, Cinemaxes, Showtimes, etc. That was 20 years ago. A young Jennifer Love Hewitt was in one of them, but that may have been the sequel. A young Lauryn Hill too, I think.

I haven't seen the sequel. Quite frankly I'm surprised they didn't make a third one. Whoopi hasn't had a hit in a while.

Tomorrow is Special Theme day again. The theme will be films that have repeating words in the title.

Example: MARY MARY (1963) starring Debbie Reynolds. Or RACHEL RACHEL (1968) which we've already done.

1191 is Boeing Boeing. Yes.

1194 is New York, New York. Yes.

1196 is Come Back to the Five and Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean? No.

1197 is Europa Europa. No.

1198 is Liar Liar. No.

I am aware of most of these other films, but I am just not thinking of the titles. I don't think I've seen any of them. So, looks like maybe I've seen only two.

1191,  1192, 1196 and 1199 I have not seen.

The rest I have. 1198 is funny enough (even though I am hardly a die-hard Jim Carrey fan). 1193 is watchable though I don't share the enthusiasm for it that others do. 1195 is kinda cute (unusual for an Al Pacino film though).

The rest are so-so for me.

Lily Collins is, I believe, Phil  Collins' daughter. I guess I could have figured how the title of that I'd one if I'd thought about it long enough. Bye Bye Braverman was on TCM not too long ago, but I missed it. I don't guess I've seen any of these others, so I have indeed only seen two, tied for my all-time low.

Think I've seen just about all of them. 1201 is my personal favorite out of all of these.

1210 the least favorite but then I'm not that keen on the leading man.

It's been ages since I've seen the Paul Muni film. I need to re-watch it.

I've only seen the Bancroft-MacLaine picture once and it was okay. Not something I'm in a hurry to watch again. Interestingly, THE TURNING POINT was heavily nominated but failed to earn even one Oscar. It was totally shut out, like THE COLOR PURPLE would be eight years later.

The Tomei-Pesci confection is a lot of fun though I am not sure if Tomei, a decent and dependable actress, deserved the Oscar over some of her British competition that year.

I've never seen the Tom Cruise film but I find a lot of his action movies sort of blend together. Oops, am I being sacrilegious here??? :)
