Bill Barr & T's new DOJ ?

Recommended Posts

Barr, with corrupt intent—seeking to replace a prosecutor whose performance he commended with a Trump golfing buddy, at an office investigating Trump, his pals, his lawyer and his campaign
—offered a lucrative job in return for the prosecutor resigning.

How is that *not* bribery?

.........Keep in mind that Berman made clear to Congress that what Barr was seeking was without question "a thing of value" to Trump,
as replacing Berman with the man Trump wanted would have necessarily significantly delayed and disrupted
all of the investigations of Trump and his allies.

"I think the prosecution [of Roger Stone] was righteous
and I think the sentence that the judge ultimately gave was fair."

Barr will do anything to protect Trump.

Where he failed in the SDNY, he succeeded in EDNY

—bypassing longstanding procedure to install a trusted advisor to oversee the Guiliani & Ukraine investigations.

Worth noting that Stone’s admission that he could have incriminated Trump
would make Trump’s pardon an act of obstruction,
even under Barr’s legal view — Barr (in his dumb long 2018 memo) acknowledged that

if POTUS were attempting to conceal evidence, it would be obstruction

Pile on the many Trump tweets where he instructed Stone to hang in there and not to cooperate with the Justice investigations.

Law and Order, President indeed.  What a joke.

(THREAD) Here's a checklist of everything that—as a criminal defense lawyer—I'd expect a client to do
if he were the U.S. president, a career criminal, headed toward a possible election defeat, and aware that he might be indicted post-election. ......

1. PARDON ROGER STONE. Stone could have gotten his prison sentence reduced by flipping on Trump over pre-election collusion with three nations (Russia, Israel, and Turkey) and Trump's chargeable lies to Mueller.
Stone made clear he was ready to flip.

STATUS: SENTENCE COMMUTED................

#5)  STOP OR SLOW ACTIVE EDNY INVESTIGATIONS. Richard Donaghue had many investigations of Trump and his political operations—particularly his inaugural committee—ongoing.

STATUS: Barr REMOVED DONAGHUE from his job by giving him a job at Main Justice. This will slow all his case........

CONCLUSION. These are just the top 10 things you'd expect a career criminal who's guilty as charged to be doing in advance of a possible indictment.

Media must explain this to America—we're witnessing a consciousness-of-guilt presidency the likes of which we've never seen before.

This is well worth a look.  Roger Stone hours before his sentence was commuted gave an interview in which he said, Donald Trump, I did not turn on you.  I want my sentence commuted.

Bill Barr’s Playbook: His False Claims About Prior Military Force on U.S. Soil

The Insurrection Act, Operation Hawkeye and what really happened

"...........Attorney General Barr has been developing a playbook for using federal forces without state consent for decades. But his authority for doing so not only relies on questionable legal doctrine (which we discussed before) but also relies on a distortion of the historical record.

This distorted history centers on a key event in 1989: the deployment of federal troops to the Virgin Islands after Hurricane Hugo. In an interview on CBS’s Face the Nation last month, Barr rewrote what happened in 1989–falsely portraying the episode as though it provided a precedent for such aggressive military action.

But the true record of the 1989 case stands, in much larger measure, for the opposite conclusion.

And Barr should know better. He was there at the time.........

.... Barr explained that he played a lead role inside the Bush administration on the legal basis for the president’s deployment of the military. That’s all the more reason for him to be aware that the administration at the time strenuously made the case that

the governor of the Virgin Islands requested the deployment of the US military. It served the Bush administration well to stake out that position.

Barr now tries to say the opposite happened. It would serve the Trump administration well for him to do so........

Barr is plainly misleading the country now in his portrayal of the episode. And he appears to be doing so to legitimize President Trump’s threatening or exercising such powers without governors’ consent............

In short, Barr purports to provide a clear example of a set of events that showcase: (1) a relatively recent example of use of the Insurrection Act; (2) overriding the consent of a governor; (3) for civil unrest that did not involve federal implementation of the Fourteenth Amendment guarantee to equal protection. Barr also claims special knowledge of the events and administration’s justification having served in the Justice Department’s leadership at the time.............

US DOJ treats Trump enemies differently than Trump friends

Former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen says he has been punished by officials for writing a book critical of the president.

Police are investigating the death of Pvt. Mejhor Morta, a Fort Hood soldier whose body was found at a nearby lake.

He's the third service member from the Texas base to be found dead in the past month.

maybe DOJ could look into THIS??

More than two dozen DC Bar members urge disciplinary probe of AG Barr

......urged the group’s disciplinary board on Wednesday to investigate Attorney General William Barr for committing “serious ethical deviations” as head of the Justice Department under President Trump.

The 40-page complaint alleges that Barr has repeatedly served as Trump’s personal attorney, rather than act on behalf of the United States, in breach of Barr’s ethical obligations as a lawyer. The result, the letter states, has been to undermine and interfere with the rule of law.

“Mr. Barr’s client is the United States, and not the President,” the members write in the letter. “Yet, Mr. Barr has consistently made decisions and taken action to serve the personal and political self-interests of President Donald Trump, rather than the interest of the United States.”.......

the complaint targets the attorney general’s decision to clear Trump of obstructing former special counsel Robert Mueller’s two-year investigation of Russia’s interference in the 2016 U.S. election. It also admonishes Barr for his public criticism of the investigators and for undermining the probe’s legitimacy.

Barr’s role in the administration’s aggressive dispersal of a largely peaceful protest outside the White House last month, which involved the use of tear gas, flash bombs and rubber bullets, was also highlighted in the complaint.........

BREAKING NEWS: A federal judge has confirmed that the plot to imprison Michael Cohen during the pandemic
to keep him from publishing a tell-all book about the president before the 2020 election

was just what we thought it was.
The odds of the book's publication just skyrocketed.

PS/ Understand what this means:
Barr blatantly—and in a way cognizable to a federal judge
—tried to use the federal government's power to imprison Americans
to protect Donald Trump's re-election odds.

This is yet another political, legal, and moral scandal for both Trump and Barr.

PS2/ It also corroborates the claim that Barr's edict that DOJ can't investigate any element of Trump's campaign—an edict ostensibly covering Biden's campaign too,
except that in announcing it *Barr said he welcomed all evidence on Biden from Giuliani*—was a naked political ploy.

PS3/ It also—far less importantly—underscores that major media had this story wrong.
While national outlets were still saying that DOJ put Cohen back in prison because he had dinner a block from his home while on house arrest, feeds like this one were saying it was the book deal............

Given Barr’s history with misrepresenting the Mueller Report,
he could come out late-October with scathing, untrue allegations about Biden
who wouldn’t have time to respond.

DOJ policies prohibits actions that could influence elections but Barr signaled he’s not bound by them.
