THE MEMO: Impeachment's scars cut deep with Trump, say those who know him http://hill.cm/EmXxkfg

Can you imagine being in your early 70s and this is the first time you've ever had any real retribution on your anti-social behavior?

You can't teach an old dog new tricks.

If support erodes in the Republican caucus for a speedy sham trial to appease Trump, then the nature of the proceeding could get far more serious for the president.

4:45 AM · Dec 26, 2019·SocialFlow

Senator Murkowski says she is going into this impeachment with an open mind and wants to look at the evidence presented.

She's not comfortable with a Mitch McConnell rubber-stamped Senate acquittal to appease a president who can be very vindictive.

Many senators are afraid to go against Trump--

even if he deserves to be thrown out of office for malfeasance--

Because they fear they will be primaried or ostracized by their own constituents.

It all looks like some form of blackmail.

Chuck Schumer renewed his call Monday for White House acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney and former national security adviser John Bolton to testify in the Senate impeachment trial after The New York Times published new details about the effort to withhold aid to Ukraine.

“Simply put: In our fight to have key documents and witnesses in a Senate impeachment trial, these new revelations are a game-changer,”..........

The Republican talking point up until now has been that Trump was instigating national policy interests in withholding aid to Ukraine over concerns about corruption.  This meeting with Bolton, Esper and Pompeo flies in the face of that.  They are telling Trump in this meeting  that the U.S. national policy interests is to release the money to Ukraine.

Also, Trump has no track record of concerns about 'corruption' except when it may have involved his political opponent.

these democrats are unbelievable. they know they can't do anything with their kangaroo articles of impeachment so these schtootzes actually are demanding that a GOP-controlled senate facilitate the trial and removal of a GOP president.

it is certainly not the job of a GOP senate to hand them a 2nd chance to build up a case against trump since the house never had one. these idiots think it's 1974 all over again.

1974...when GOP senators honored their oath of office and protected the constitution, not the president.  In fact, GOP members told Nixon it was time to go.  The president had the decency to resign for the good of the country.

You’re right,1974 it ain’t.  This shameless president thinks he can continue his criminal ways of his whole life without consequences.  The spineless GOP have been protecting him no matter what, their oaths and the constitution be damned.   Trump will do what he perceives is his own interests, not the country’s, as he had since he took office.

True to form Susan Collins' concerns seem to be all about the procedure and how it has been mishandled by the Democrats.

The issue of having a corruptible president doesn't even seem to occur to her.

Whatever happened to Rudy's report? Remember when he returned from Ukraine a few weeks ago.

He supposedly had compiled a report that would blow the whole Biden corruption theory sky high.

Haven't heard anything more about it.

The Times reported that there was an Oval Office meeting in August, well after corrupt phone call between Trump and President Zelensky
in which Trump tried to bribe/extort/strong-arm Zelensky into announcing a bogus investigation into the Bidens. During the August meeting,..........

...top Republican administration officials told Trump that withholding the Ukrainian defense funds
WAS AGAINST AMERICA'S INTERESTS. This is the equivalent of Esper, Pompeo and Bolton .....

telling Trump, 'You are abusing the power of your office by acting in your own personal interest and AGAINST the interests of United States.' .........

This is hard evidence, direct evidence, evidence proving beyond a reasonable doubt

that Trump abused his power exactly as stated in Article of Impeachment #1. ......

Unredacted WH emails reveal that Trump was the only person pushing the withholding of aid to Ukraine.  There were concerns about the legality of this move.  They were given to understand that a review of some kind was taking place but no evidence of any review has yet surfaced.

This was just on CNN.

Exclusive: Unredacted Ukraine Documents Reveal Extent of Pentagon’s Legal Conc

".......The documents reveal growing concern from Pentagon officials that the hold would violate the Impoundment Control Act, which requires the executive branch to spend money as appropriated by Congress, and that the necessary steps to avoid this result weren’t being taken. Those steps would include notifying Congress that the funding was being held or shifted elsewhere, a step that was never taken. The emails also show that no rationale was ever given for why the hold was put in place or why it was eventually lifted.

What is clear is that it all came down to the president and what he wanted; no one else appears to have supported his position. ....

Anyone with common sense knows Trump is withholding witnesses & documents from Congress because they prove his impeachable conduct.

Newly obtained, unredacted emails from a Trump appointee show Trump personally directed the scheme.

Witnesses must testify.

Senator McConnell: This new evidence raises questions that can only be answered

by having the key Trump administration officials—Mick Mulvaney, John Bolton, Michael Duffey, and Robert Blair—testify under oath in a Senate trial.

Not that I expect Trump to be convicted in the Senate but the arguments for the defence just got a lot harder when the Appellate Court ruled that barring Don McGahn from testifying before Congress was an unprecedented obstruction.

Here is a wacky conspiracy  theory:       Bolton has dirt on Trump related to Ukraine.       Bomb-bomb-Iran-Bolton is  contacted by Trump and told that if he agrees to forget what he knows on Ukraine,   Bolton will get his wish,   Trump will order attacks directly on Iranian targets.

Yea,  nuts,  couldn't happen,  couldn't be true,,,,,   BUT,         we do have TRUMP here and as we have learned ANYTHING is possible with this corrupt nut job!
