The president has been displeased as the virus has gotten closer to him, with a valet who handles food and beverages and the VP's press secretary testing positive, per multiple WH officials

“It is scary to go to work,” says a White House economic advisor.

Now imagine what it’s like in factories, stores and offices across the country that don’t have the extensive testing and contact tracing available in the West Wing.

WH senior adviser Kevin Hassett told me he did today's @CNNSotu interview from a "remote van" because of his possible exposure to COVID19 at the WH, "and we've taken extra precautions to keep the people who hooked up the camera safe."

There's apparently a ton to testing, and a lot of contact tracing, going on at the White House. It's nice that staffers there get such good care. It would be nice if they were working to help the rest of us get it too.

trump wants to open up the nation and pretend covid-19 is not a health problem in America anymore.

Meanwhile, the White House has become a pandemic hotspot.

--The president's  waiter valet has the virus.

--The vice president's press secretary, who also happens to be a top aide's wife, has the virus.

-- Ivanka trump's personal assistant has the virus.

-- Reportedly, members of the Secret Service have caught the virus in the White House.

And even the nation's top expert on the virus has been exposed to the virus and has decided to self quarantine himself.

Yes, Dr. Fauci is afraid he may have caught covid-19 himself by attending meetings in the White House.

People forget, there were NO safety nets i.e. unemployment benefits during the Great Depression.  Did FDR issued stimulus checks?  Very few  plan for events like this with the "it may not happen in our lifetime".  This is only a setback, things will slowly recover as  America reopens.

Sick of these doom and gloomers.

So you're sick of the several top Trump admin officials????    Isn't Mnuchin part of your beloved team?

CNN) Several top Trump administration officials on Sunday continued to predict dire, Depression-era unemployment numbers for the month of May, days after the official US jobless rate surged for the month of April amid the coronavirus crisis.

On Friday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the US economy lost 20.5 million jobs in April, with the unemployment rate reaching 14.7% that month. And Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin gave an even steeper figure on Sunday when asked in an interview with Fox News where unemployment stands after taking into account the people who filed claims after the latest report stopped around the middle of the month.
Mnuchin, asked by Fox's Chris Wallace whether "we (are) talking close to 25% at this point, which is Great Depression neighborhood," he responded . "We could be," .

It’s completely insane that the White House thinks things will be back to normal or close to it by the election. It’s going to take years to get out of this. Many of them.

trump promised to make America great again--

But what he has actually done is to take us back to the lowest economic point of our 20th century past--

Back to the 1930s era of the Great Depression with Depression era unemployment numbers and soup kitchen type bread lines with people lined up for miles in their vehicles begging for food at local food pantries.

I kinda dislike the semantics used.  As in "The U.S. economy lost 20.5 million jobs....."  When really the ECONOMY didn't lose any jobs, just the people who were doing them.  And the JOBS are still there, waiting for the time when people( and possibly the same people who held them before) get back to doing them again. NOBODY who found themselves out of work during the pandemic were told they were out of work for good.  Just temporarily.

And this thing going around that so many people find themselves making more money on unemployment compensation than on their jobs and are considering NOT going back to work sounds a bit fishy.    Back in the "day" there were times I was on unemployment( GM would shut down many plants in summertimes for retooling in a move called "changeover" ) and the rate of unemployment checks were based on one's income when the lay-off ocurred.  And would only make payments for 26 weeks.  So, wouldn't going back to work, which would likely last longer than 26 weeks be better than being cut off from unemployment after a few months and not being able to find a job that pays the same as the JOB you gave up?

Exactly and consider help the average American receives - unemployment, stimulus checks, etc..  The left spin this stupid Great Depression scenario.  Are most Americans living like this??

The average SPOILED American don't know how good we have it compared to those living during the 1930's

One of these days a pandemic will come around that will make this look like a cakewalk.

The "left" has nothing to do with what the NUMBERS show.  We have more people out of work now than during he Great Depression because we have MORE PEOPLE.  PERIOD.  But it's the percentage comparison that tells the story.

But sure many Americans these days have no idea of the concept of collective sacrifice.  Like the gas, food and other rationing during WWII.  They've become so complacent as to think they're ALL entitled to special consideration, and that it's OK to let the MARKET control the consumer rather than the (more preferred) other way around. and necessary to their well being and self esteem to obsessively play "keep up with the Joneses". to the point of actually losing sight of their individual identities in order to not appear "different".  Their credo seems to be, "Let them without do all the sacrificing."

It was no Cakewalk for the over 80,000 people who have already died. Plus their family and friends probably wouldn't appreciate people comparing their loss to that kind of an amusement.

Right now, in the Here and Now, people are having trouble buying food, paying mortgages, paying rent, paying for funerals and, of course, paying unexpected medical bills.

Many jobs, particularly in the hospitality area including restaurants, are not coming back. Many of these businesses are going out of business.

Take a look at those long auto lines at the food banks all over this country. People are not there as a joke or because they're spoiled, they're there because they and their children are hungry.

These people are our fellow Americans. We should not just have sympathy and empathy for them but we should support them and not criticize them for Being Human.

This week Trump, @PressSec, & their partners in crime will claim across multiple platforms that the #COVID19 death numbers are being inflated.

They will offer no proof.

But they have to do this now because their task force has told them the new death toll will exceed 140,000++

If anything the numbers reported for those dying of covid-19 are under-reported because so many people, especially in the New York area, died at home without hospitalization or medical care.

trump's inaction and mishandling of the pandemic itself is bad enough.

But firing and hampering and refusing to fund scien scientists to find the vaccine, the medication or the Cure is even worse.

People who deny the reality of science are too ignorant to be in any kind of governmental position.

No amount of distraction and deflection will work when the pandemic is in your state and in your county, and in your city, and on its way to your home.

trump, Fox, and any other  lamebrain Republicans can live in any reality they want to live in,

but America is living in the pandemic reality-- 80,000 dead and still counting.

Note that it isn't only Trump,  Fox and lamebrain Republicans that are using Flynn  to provide a distraction for the pathetic handling of this crisis by the Trump admin.

Adam Schiff is right along with them.       Dems need to be disciplined;    Don't bring up Russian influence,  the 2016 election,     Flynn,  Mueller report etc....     Just focus 100% on Trump and what he has and hasn't done since January of 2020.

Defeating Trump is the one-and-only objective!

The White House is currently having difficulty keeping COVID19 out of the White House itself.

Three senior members of the coronavirus task force — Drs. Redfield, Hahn, and Fauci — are in some form of quarantine.

And that’s *with* WH surveillance testing and contact tracing.

“Surveillance testing” means testing samples of the population — including asymptomatic people, people who have no reason to think they have it — so health professionals can make inferences about how widespread it is.

“Contact tracing” means sleuthing after someone tests positive to figure out to whom he or she may have spread the virus, such as in this case, Drs. Redfield, Hahn, and Fauci.

Health officials say this is what we need to be doing on a national level. So that you know how prevalent the virus might be in your neighborhood, church, workplace, or school.

We are nowhere near where we need to be on that, they say. Though they are at the WH.

12:16 PM · May 10, 2020·Twitter for iPhone

 So let's get this straight--

The president's wait -dining valet has covid-19.

The vice president's press secretary has covid-19.

Special presidential aide Ivanka trump's personal assistant has covid-19.

There are fears that several members of The Joint Chiefs of Staff may have been exposed to covid-19 in the White House.

And to top all this off--

The 3 leading doctors of the Coronavirus National  Task Force  are in self -quarantine because they may have been exposed to it as well in the White House......

 The 3 doctors are:

The head of the CDC

The head of the FDA &

 The head epidemiologist Dr. Fauci!

And here it is May 11th 2020,

over 80,000 Americans dead from the  pandemic and the trump White House is just now calling for masks and social distancing in the White House?

While trump refuses to wear a mask himself and Pence refuses to self -quarantine.

And to think these people are in charge of the national pandemic  response. LMREO

It looks as though the White House can't even manage their own office covid-19 situation, much less that of the entire nation.

And considering trump's propensity to lie, who knows how bad it really is up there?

It looks like the best advice for us is to look to Democratic and non -trump supporting Republican governors for leadership.

If your Governor is a trump-supporting Lackey, like the governor of Georgia, then look to your various Municipal Mayors, County Health officials and local doctors for advice.

Americans are a resourceful people and they know what they have to do.
