COVID-19 quarantine reactions/ coping......

Recommended Posts

We must have no stigma, none, about wearing masks when we leave our homes and come near other people.

Wearing simple face coverings is not about protecting ourselves,

it is about protecting everyone we encounter.

What was it?  Let me guess ... 130,000 dead Americans?  40,000 testing positive each day?   6 months late.

The best way to solve Covid is to turn it into some sort of game

where the state with the lowest  % cases each week gets a pizza party or some ****.

This unfortunately would work really well.

National mandate on mask-wearing could work better than lockdowns, new report suggests

"A national mask mandate could increase U.S. face mask usage by statistically significant and economically large amounts," the report concluded.

.........and could save the U.S. from a 5 percent hit to economic growth, according to a new report from investment giant Goldman Sachs.

“Our baseline estimate is that a national mandate could raise the percentage of people who wear masks by 15 percentage points and cut the daily growth rate of confirmed cases by 1 percentage point,” Jan Hatzius, Goldman’s chief economist, wrote in the note to clients.

“These calculations imply that a face mask mandate could potentially substitute for lockdowns that would otherwise subtract nearly 5 percent from GDP,” Hatzius continued........

“A national mask mandate could increase US face mask usage by statistically significant and economically large amounts, especially in states such as Florida and Texas that currently don’t have a comprehensive mandate and are seeing some of the worst outbreaks,” ......

to Oppose Closures

.........organizers wrote that bars had been scapegoated for the state's rise in newly confirmed coronavirus cases.

"No other businesses are being shut down. It's wrong and affecting the livelihood of hundreds of thousands across the state. From owners to bartenders, waitresses, entertainers... we will all take the hit," the event page read ...........

Why 'superspreaders' are so important for the spread of COVID-19

"In this video, we discuss what is a superspreader event (SSE) and why superspreader events are so important for the spread of SARS-CoV-2. Superspreading has also been called "dispersion".

Several respected groups of researchers from Israel, the UK, and Hong Kong, have shown that only 10 to 20% of COVID-19 patients are responsible for 80% of secondary infections. So if we can prevent these superspreader events, we could prevent a second wave of infections.

We also discuss cluster sites and their commonalities — the three Cs and superemitters and their impact on the spread..........

A “Face Mask Exempt Card” that doesn’t actually exempt you from anything.

With a fraudulent Dept. of Justice seal- and backed by a ‘Freedom To Breathe Agency’ that doesn’t actually exis

- federal agencies are warning people not to buy in to this scheme

Internal Messages Reveal Crisis at Houston Hospitals as Coronavirus Cases Surge

I saw a report that the Governor of Florida had employed all of 9 people to do contact tracing.  That's a tall order with 8,000 cases per day.

George had something like less than 30 and the Carolinas were no better.

The CDC plan was not only to bend the curve to help the hospitals but to get the numbers down so low that you could do contact tracing which is the only way to eradicate or even stay on top of the disease spread.

Trump jr's Tweet related to mask wearing, has virologist wearing full on smocks,  with this caption:

This is what virologist wear to protect themselves from a virus. Don't worry, though. Your bandana probably works to

This reminded me about what a county health official had said about masks a few weeks ago;    I wouldn't mandate them, since they are not totally effective.

Many years ago I meet this gal that told me she had had 5 abortions.    I asked her "why don't you use birth control"?    She replied,   "because it isn't totally effective".

Man,  that entire Trump family is a bunch of morons!    (well expect for that niece).

Herman Cain was at Trump’s rally in Tulsa not wearing a mask

. He’s now been hospitalized with coronavirus.
===============================================================

Flashback: in April, Herman Cain criticized govt mandates
and applauded Georgia's early reopening,
because people would use "common sense to figure out the right thing to do"

A 74-year-old man at an indoor rally without a mask probably doesn't qualify as common sense

This is likely to be un-Constitutional as it relates to the Commerce clause.    I.e. only the Feds could restrict "commerce" between states and travel fall under commerce.

Of course that would require the Trump admin to get their head out of their rear,,, and of course that isn't going to happen.
