Did Julie Andrews really deserve this next AFI Award?

Recommended Posts

THE BIRDCAGE ('96) is hilarious.  And everybody in the cast is outstanding.  From Williams and Lane, to Diane Wiest and Gene Hackman, and Hank Azaria.   I'm surprised you haven't seen it already(so it seems from your remark about Lane's John Wayne walk clip).   An "Americanized"  reworking of the French movie, I  don't personally know anyone who loved the French original who DOESN'T like "The Birdcage".

Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart come to my mind currently and if want female person to get it how about Nicole Kidman or Cate Blanchett. Andrews is a fine addition Im quite sure but seems like she should have gotten it by now.
