NY Times Blows Lid Off Trump Covid-19 Coverup

Recommended Posts

Anyone that is interested in being an informed voter should read this New York Times article.  It is a stunning indictment of President Trump's failure to protect the American people because he was more concerned with his own re-election.  It is a comprehensive article written by 6 NY Times reporters.

He Could Have Seen What Was Coming: Behind Trump’s Failure on the Virus

An examination reveals the president was warned about the potential for a pandemic but that internal divisions, lack of planning and his faith in his own instincts led to a halting response.

WASHINGTON — “Any way you cut it, this is going to be bad,” a senior medical adviser at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Dr. Carter Mecher, wrote on the night of Jan. 28, in an email to a group of public health experts scattered around the government and universities. “The projected size of the outbreak already seems hard to believe.”

A week after the first coronavirus case had been identified in the United States, and six long weeks before President Trump finally took aggressive action to confront the danger the nation was facing — a pandemic that is now forecast to take tens of thousands of American lives — Dr. Mecher was urging the upper ranks of the nation’s public health bureaucracy to wake up and prepare for the possibility of far more drastic action.

Because daily Donald Trump demonstrates what an incompetent leader he is, out of his depth and flopping like a fish out of water, clueless as what to do.  He is unable to do the job, and does not want its responsibilities, which he cannot/will not carry out in any case.  He doesn’t even want the job, except for the glory -and to not face prosecution by running out the clock on his many crimes.

This has never been more apparent in this time of crisis, where anything Trump does is done late, half-aaasssed, and Ineffectively.  His stupidity and self-absorption will be responsible for tens of thousands of more deaths of Americans that might have been the case otherwise.

And every day that goes by everyone who voted for him looks that much more braindead.  If there is any consolation we know that after we are all long gone Donald Trump has succeeded in making damn sure that for all time he will be viewed as the very worst president of the united states.

One doesn't gain credibility posting such nonsense.        A more accurate statement would be that 10 thousand or so Americans have died,  that didn't need to, if Trump wasn't such a self-absorbed moron.

In addition in New York,   the state with the most deaths,   there was poor leadership from Governor Cuomo.      E.g.  he didn't close non-essential businesses until 4 days after CA did.

Some seems to forget this has effected the rest of the planet not just the U.S..

Did anyone ever thought or planned in the past there would be a global shutdown / lockdown?

Correct,   but Trump still fumbled the ball resulting in additional infections,  as well as deaths.   Remember that you and I both gave him a 4-out-of-10 'score' for his initial handling of this crisis.    That is in the pass but there are still key decisions that Trump needs to make.        I don't have much faith that he will act in a competent manner given his pass history of dismal failures.     BUT this time Governors like here in CA,  Newsom,    will just ignore him and clearly won't depend on the Federal government (following what Trump and his a-hole son-in-law said,  like you-need-to-get-your-own-supplies and those-are-ours!!!).

Yes, Hamrsdio!

Yes, and we were warned about this for at least 2 months, while other parts of the planet started to experience this epidemic.  But  Donald Trump chose to ignore, then minimize the threat of the brewing pandemic.  Yes, he knew about it, but did nothing during some precious 70 days, during which he could have prepared a strategy, marshal the resources of the federal government, to begin locating/ producing supplies and equipment that would be needed.  He did none of this, called it a democratic hoax, held rallies where he did the same, and went golfing!

Donald Trump was given a Pandemic Playbook, to prepare for this potentiality.  He did nothing about it.  His administration did a simulation of a similar epidemic, predicting many of the things going on, and pointing to areas of weakness and shortages of supplies.  Donald Trump did nothing!

Instead, he did away with a program to identify and warn against just this type of outbreak of disease on foreign soil, he got rid of many of the top administrators in the the departments and programs that would have known what to do, replacing them with political sychphants whose job seems to have been to root out anti-Trump sentiment, not to work on the goals of their new charge.  He removed as many scientists and subject-matter experts as possible.

DONALD TRUMP KNEW THIS PANDEMIC WAS POSSIBLE,  HE KNEW THAT IT COULD LEAD TO A GLOBAL SHUTDOWN, AND IF HE PLANNED FOR IT AT ALL, IT SEEMS IT WAS FOR US TO HAVE THE WORST POSSIBLE REPERCUSSIONS FOR AMERICA.

You seem to forget that we're talking about Americans dying here. And we're talking about who could have prevented that many Americans from dying.

And don't forget other countries had better management and they were not as wealthy as this country is.

Death is hard to deflect.

In short, the country gambled on an incompetent idiot, and lost!

Unless you voted for Trump to blow up the government, and its ability to respond effectively to a crisis, save lives and the economy,  If so, then YOU WON!

While the Covid 19 pandemic affected the whole world, the severity of how it affected both the people and the economy of the US was severely worsened by Trump's incompetence.  And it will get worse because of his incompetence.  People will die and the economy will get worse.
