sewhite2000
Yeah, seems like too overwhelming a task for me to even consider, but you never know. Just don't expect a list from me by tomorrow.

TopBilled
I should note that these are not all my favorite films from A to Z. These are just favorite films that start with those specific letters. Also, I wanted to include 99 RIVER STREET, but wasn't sure if it should go under 'N' which I gave to NORA PRENTISS. So it can be an honorable mention. A lot of film titles start with numbers or symbols.
Ampersand
Making a list and narrowing down each letter to a few noms. Some letters like D or M have all the licks and others like J, let alone Q, have so little for me. Very few clear cut winners, but it's fun.

That's OK, I was very pleased that this is the first time I saw someone's list of favorites and I saw every one of them! I see we agree on Vertigo. Bringing Up Baby,The Roaring Twenties, The Searchers and White Heat are big favorites of mine as well.

fxreyman
This is a list of 26 favorite films. There could be at least ten lists I could make for 26 films each. Ampersand
A lot of deliberation, changed a few from what I had before but I'm pretty happy with the list. Some letters I could have gone any which way for (B, G, M, P, R) but others (L, N) were no contest. Q and X, so few choices. Almost went with xXx, the radical James Bond starring Vin Diesel. Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997) The Big Clock (1948) Captain Blood (1935) Dark Passage (1947) Expendables 2 (2012) A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (1966) The Great Escape (1963) Happy Gilmore (1996) In a Lonely Place (1950) John Wick (2014) Kingdom of Heaven - Director's Cut (2005) Larceny Inc (1942) The Matrix (1999) North by Northwest (1959) Ocean's Eleven (2001) The Public Enemy (1931) Quentin Durward (1955) Redline (2009) Some Like It Hot (1959) Tropic Thunder (2008) The Untouchables (1987) Vanilla Sky (2001) White Heat (1949) X2 (2003) Young Frankenstein (1974) Zoolander (2001)
kingrat
Ashes and Diamonds Black Narcissus Citizen Kane Duck Soup The Earrings of Madame de . . . Forbidden Games Gone With the Wind The Hunt for Red October In Which We Serve Jules & Jim King Rat Lawrence of Arabia The Manchurian Candidate (1962) The Nun's Story Out of the Past The Passionate Thief Quiz Show Rebecca Singin' in the Rain The Treasure of Sierra Madre The Uninvited Vertigo The Wages of Fear Yojimbo Zorba the Greek For some letters there were many great choices. Fun fact: Zorba the Greek and Zulu are my favorite films from 1964. As for X, I think the only two I've seen are one of the X-Men films--I remember only that Halle Berry had silver hair and that Ian McKellen was in it and nothing else about the film, not a good sign--and X, Y, and Zee, which might turn up in another thread as the worst film Michael Caine ever made, but maybe not, because he made so many. This is a fun topic, Det. Jim. 2
Swithin
This is a good exercise in discipline, to try not to list films that one loves but which don't fit the challenge of one film per letter, for example, many of my favorite films begin with the same letters. Anthony Adverse (1936) Black Orpheus (1959) Celine and Julie Go Boating (1974) The Dead (1987) The Egyptian (1954) Frankenstein (1931) The Group (1966) Harold and Maude (1971) The Importance of Being Earnest (1952) Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959) King of the Zombies (1941) The Light that Failed (1939) Maurice (1987) Napoleon (1927) Out of Africa (1985) A Passage to India (1984) The Quiet Man (1952) Reds (1981) A Summer’s Tale (1996) Tom Jones (1963) Ugetsu (1953) Vampyr (1932) Wilson (1944) The Young Philadelphians (1959) A Zed & Two Noughts (1985)
