Great Movies! Deceptively Boring Summaries!

Well, one could make an argument for an extreme case of animal cruelty for a certain pet in my example.

I have to admit your example has me stumped as well. I have a feeling it will make sense to me when I hear it, but I haven't got a clue since it's not MUTINY, that is the only film that came to my mind when I read your description.

So, in this movie you're sayin' not only does the dude cheat on his wife, but he ALSO beats the family dog?

Ya know, I once knew a guy like that, but decided it best to keep my distance from the SOB!  ;)

(...sorry, still stumped here)

Well, the family in here did have a dog, but they did have another pet, a cuddly, furry one with long pink ears.....

I think I've been TOO cautious in my example.....

Let's just say the 'other woman' has no intention of being ignored....

Has to be a spaceship then......ALIEN or ALIENS perhaps? Or could it be 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY?

You're gettin' close, but remember I said the crew encountered "beauties".

(...and no matter how you look at it, that thing that hitches a ride on the Nostromo, could NEVER in a million parsecs be described as "beautiful")  ;)

Aaah, of course.

I think I'm now gonna be REAL, ahem, "close" with my guess here!  ;)

(...Fatal Attraction)

LOL you got a point there, but I thought you were being a little on the humorous side there (not that you are ever NOT humorous! ;)).

Afraid I haven't a clue to what your film is. Maybe someone else on here knows what it is. And I will probably feel like a moron for not realizing what movie it was when I learn what it is.

Would that be a small statue about the size of an Oscar, but of Dolly Parton instead???

(...I've got the perfect place to show it off...my fireplace mantle, and right next to that old bowling trophy of mine)

Btw Beth, check out the latest posting in the "Guilty Pleasure" thread, and all will be revealed.

Just checked it out on that thread....no wonder I couldn't get it.  I never saw the movie, I never even heard of it.

Aaah, THAT 'splains it.

Sure, Queen of Outer Space may not be a "great" movie(and as I've now realized skimpole prefaced his thread's title) but its had quite a cult following for many years, as it's one of those "so bad it's good", or at least cheesy fun, kind'a movies.

Of course it is 👍

There was a goofy movie years ago with Zsa Zsa called Queen of  Outer Space.  If it was a fairly decent movie, might be the Rod Taylor version of The Time Machine.

Not very popular in London either. He ends up taking a swim in the river.

Again, that's more of a vague summary than a deceptively boring one.

I love the original Night and the City.   I found Glenn Close's performance in FA to be rather campy (like A. Hopkins as Lechter).

If it is okay, I'm submitting two:

1 - A murder, a man on the run from the police, a carousel and horses, a train

2 - A man who can't swim survives drowning but it later killed, a bicycle, a bull

3 - (an extra) - a tennis racket, keys, a type of car
