I've just saw June Lockhart on a few T.V. Westerns,  Wagon Train and Have Gun Will Travel and re-discovered how much I like this actress.   Of course I knew her from later T.V. shows like Lost in Space and Lassie.      I didn't know she was still with us.  So thanks for that.

I wish TCM would have her on as a guest host.    She make her first film in 1938 (A Christmas Carol),   as you know worked with Garland in Meet Me in St. Louis etc...

She must have some great stories about working on these films as a young girl,  teenager,  and then her adult film career.   What a lady!

The best story I heard her tell was about her dad Gene Lockhart.

She said he was an air raid warden in the neighborhood during World War II with his buddy William Bendix.

I can just imagine the two of them going around making sure everybody had their shades down and outside lights off. :)

I just caught Shirley MacLaine in THE APARTMENT the other night on TCM and reminded how much I really love her. Talented dancer, actress & author. I really enjoy her books on old Hollywood memories. She's (I'm sure) a healthy 86.

The lovely and talented Marsha Hunt (Pride and Prejudice, The Human Comedy) is 102.

In the 1940s, she took a heroic stand against the House Committee on Un-American Activities as a member of the Committee for the First Amendment and was blacklisted as a result.  She persisted nonetheless and continued to work in movies and TV when she could.   Since her semi-retirement from show business, she has spent much of her time on humanitarian issues.

Has TCM never had her on as a guest host?    With TCM's view of the HCUA,   it would be interesting to get her take on what happened.

Marsha was also effective in the ensemble film Cry Havoc.

Since My Fair Lady is being discussed it reminded me that Julie Andrews would be great guest host.

(I believe she was,  but having her on again,,,  would be nice).

Didn't Norman Lloyd die?

How about Dick Van Dyke, Constance Towers, already mentioned Sidney P. and Harry B.  Catherine DeNeuve (sp?) is still around.  I think Angela Lansbury has been on.  So was Julie Andrews.  Angie Dickenson (sp?) is still with us.  Warren Beatty still looks pretty good.

I'm a "Downton Abbey" freak. I certainly didn't think anything could improve it, until they hired Shirley MacLaine.

Next to Maggie Smith, she was the best thing in it.

Joanne Woodward is still here but there are rumors about her state of mind.  Recently, Louis Gossett Jr. was interviewed on CBS's Sunday Morning Show.  He was in many good/interesting movies.
