Which film: Wealthy bachelor buys a chemical business

Recommended Posts

I am trying to remember the name of a film I believe I saw a few years ago on TCM.  I am guessing it is from the early 60s, but this could be off by a decade.  The storyline is a wealthy bachelor buys a chemical business/factory from the founder who is retiring.  The bachelor ends up also buying the competitor company of the retiring founder, which raises the value of the whole package, which then makes the retiring founder think that he's been cheated.  Meanwhile, the bachelor has fallen in love with the retiring founder's daughter.

Here are a few other random facts that I remember:

  • I think the bachelor's name was Mr. Rich, Mr. Price, or something like that to do with money.
  • At one point, the bachelor takes the retiring founder's daughter in his private plane (which he pilots himself) to a remote, pretty piece of land that he owns.
  • I think the bachelor's personal secretary mistakenly thinks that her boss is flirting with her and is disappointed to learn that it is not love.
