It’s worth bearing in mind that Texas AG Ken Paxton, who filed the suit, is under criminal investigation by the FBI after his own entire senior staff turned him in for corruption. Adler @jadler1969 · 26m So now Texas is trying to sue Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Georgia to challenge the election in the Supreme Court. The filing may not have all the typos and errors of a #kraken suit, but it's still really bad. https://texasattorneygeneral.gov/sites/default/files/images/admin/2020/Press/SCOTUSFiling.pdf?utm_content=&utm_medium=email&utm_name=&utm_source=govdelivery&utm_term=… David Frum Retweeted Julian Sanchez @normative · 9m Paxton fired or got resignations from the seven senior attorneys who accused him of assorted felonies. ElCid
Stephen Miller has stated that they plan to send an alternate set of electors to Congress on Jan 6 when the EC votes are certified by House and Senate. Apparently they have at least one senator and one representative who will object to the EC votes from some states. Or think they do. Then Senate and House will meet independently to determine which set of electors to accept if the objections are made. I did see where a set of Republican electors tried to force their way into the meeting where the Democratic electors elected by the voters were voting. A brave security guard kept them at bay. https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/530092-stephen-miller-alternate-electors-will-keep-trump-challenge-alive-post Stephen Miller: 'Alternate' electors will keep Trump election challenge alive BY BRETT SAMUELS - 12/14/20 11:34 AM EST 4,060

txfilmfan
2 minutes ago, ElCid said: President Trump's allies are preparing to send an "alternate" slate of electors to Congress, senior White House adviser Stephen Miller said Monday, signaling Trump will drag out his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election even after the Electoral College certifies Joe Biden as the winner. Miller, appearing on Fox News as a senior adviser to the Trump campaign, brushed off the idea that the Electoral College vote marked any kind of end to the process. Since these alternate slates weren't endorsed by their respective state's governors, they have no legal bearing on anything. On Jan. 6, members of Congress can object to the vote count at any time regardless of this side show. But since the House is controlled by Democrats, any objection is simply for political show and won't change a thing. The main goal of all of this appears to be to keep the Trump base riled up, and to keep the money flowing in to his "defense" fund. 1

ElCid
Wikipedia has an interesting article on the last time something remotely such as this occurred. Might want to skip to section 3, electoral votes and the compromise for a description of what happened. S.C. had 101% of eligible voters to vote.🤣 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1876_United_States_presidential_election#Electoral_disputes_and_the_Compromise_of_1877

The main goal of all of this appears to be to keep the Trump base riled up, and to keep the money flowing in to his "defense" fund. The main reason Trump is doing this is to raise money. In this way CNN and other media outlets are assisting Trump in laughing all the way to the bank. Democracy was never really at stake; This was CNN's way to increase their ratings. E.g. after each Trump legal set-back, Anderson Copper would mention the failed attempt (mocking it as deserved since each attempt was lame from a legal POV), but end with "yet". As in Trump still had a chance to remain President. The Economist instead only used a paragraph about these challenges instead focusing on what really is important: the future Biden administration.

This will place several, perhaps many, Republican senators in a bind. They know it is all political theater to appeal to Trump and his base and will go nowhere. However, they will be forced to vote to object to the EC vote or to support it and Biden's victory over Trump. FYI: He defeated Claire McCaskill in 2018 for the senate seat from MO.
