Playboy should take note of that picture of her pulling the bow with her feet. Now that is some cheesecake pic.

I wonder what The Archers would have made of that photo. ;)

JackF - One of my favorite photos - I wish I could get a pair of shoes like those. They look comfy.

As for the dress pattern, check out the measurements. For size 11, bust 29, hip 32? Times (and sizes have changed). A bit of Americana/history.

Ella sure looked like she enjoyed life and all it has to offer. Wonderful photos.

Great Gosh Almighty! I never looked at the size on that pattern! WHOA!!!!

Incredible.

I love those shoes too... the whole outfit looks perfect for fishing. I really love to see the stars at play or rest. When they are relaxed the real beauty seems to come out.

just for fun - Here are the measurements for Simplicity pattern for size 11 nowadays. I guess we're getting bigger.

Size 11/12

Bust 33?"

Waist 26"

Hip 36?"

Holy smokes! What a difference 50 or so years makes.

Still, I'd love to have one of those dresses from back then...... That sz 11 would probably be a size 4 or 5 nowadays.

JackF - that is one scary clown on the wall. Check out that nose! But Ella is beautiful. What a contrast.

That picture on the wall keeps making me think of The Greatest Show On Earth... but it's way too early to be poster art....

OH my goodness...it's kind of astonishing to see "Della Street" this way! I'd completely forgotten she was in Higher and Higher...I mean, I did not recognize her. She had a really warm, friendly kind of sass to her in those pictures.

(Seriously), she always reminded me of the beautiful Ruth Hussey. That's a lovely picture posted of Hale.

Yup. Della was sexy.

Who knew?

She is a lot like Ruth Hussey... I always like these unsung actresses who always played sensible secretaries....

JackF - Thanks for providing another side of Barbara Hale. Who knew, indeed? Not me, but I do now.

Real life husband and wife in that photo of "A Likely Story," Jackaaay. Their son appeared in Brian DePalma's "CARRIE" with Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie. He was the cute guy with the long blonde curly hair and the great smile. :D

Are you kidding me??? I am going to have to take another look at Carrie... I always liked that guy....

I see it ! I see it! I can see the resemblance between the dad, Della, and William Katt!
