ElCid
The Depts. of Defense, Homeland Security and Justice need to immediately begin planning to have ACTIVE military and Federal Law Enforcement officers in charge of security for the Capitol for the next 60 days. They all need to be wearing full body armor and carrying loaded weapons with instructions to fire them at first signs of a breach of barricades.

ElCid
20,000 National Guard troops planned for the inauguration. And the will be armed. Hopefully they will have ammo as well. Planning is taking into consideration leaving sufficient Guard troops available to each state capital. Still say there should be Active Duty Soldiers and Marines there as well. Of course, the Guard is supposedly better trained in how to handle civil disobedience, riots, demonstrations and so forth.

Probably be better if none of the Trump family attended as they would get too much media attention.

Bogie56
Look who it is! Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley turn up at the inauguration they tried to STOP: 'Treason caucus' Republicans sit with other senators despite leading push to reject Biden presidency The leaders of the so-called 'treason caucus,' Sens. Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley, both showed up Wednesday to President Joe Biden's inauguration. Hawley and Cruz joined the House GOP effort to challenge Electoral College votes during the January 6 session that was interrupted by the violent MAGA riot. They contested votes in Arizona and Pennsylvania, delaying the certification for hours - and giving now ex-President Donald Trump's election fraud claims more weight.Trump'sims - that he had been robbed a second term due to widespread voter fraud - motivated the violent insurrection, in which five people were killed in the incident's immediate aftermath, including a Capitol Police officer. Even after the mob was cleared and the certification resumed, Hawley still challenged Pennsylvania's Electoral College votes going to Biden, which extended debate an additional two hours, late into the night. Only a majority vote was needed to kill the challenge.

mr6666
World leaders congratulate Biden, some take shots at Trump "We thought Trump was a bad joke, but five years later we realized he jeopardized nothing less than the world's most powerful democracy," Spain's prime minister said. ....... German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier echoed these concerns as he said he was "greatly relieved" and suggested that many of his fellow countrymen felt the same way. "Despite all the joy we feel today, we must not forget that even the most powerful democracy in the world has been seduced by populism," he said as Biden prepared to be sworn in. "We must work resolutely to counter polarization, protect and strengthen the public square in our democracies, and shape our policies on the basis of reason and facts.”.......... Calling it a "significant day for the American people," French President Emmanuel Macron tweeted that his country was "together" with them. "We will be stronger to face the challenges of our time. Stronger to build our future. Stronger to protect our planet," he said, before welcoming the U.S. back to the Paris Agreement on climate change........... https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/world-leaders-congratulate-biden-some-take-shots-trump-n1255019?cid=sm_npd_ms_tw_ma 1

laffite
It was chilling seeing George W Bush at Arlington yesterday. How dare he even show up! A Yes man to a fake war. All those deaths. And the NeoCons, where are they now? Remember them? It's as if they dare not show their face. Trump doesn't show up yesterday, but George W Bush does? Disgusting. both.
