John Kerry family private jet emitted estimated 166 metric tons of carbon over past year

The plane registered to U.S. Special Envoy on Climate John Kerry's family emitted as much carbon as around 36 typical passenger cars would in a year.

Data compiled by the flight tracking firm FlightAware and obtained by Fox News show that the Kerry family's Gulfstream GIV-SP spent around 22 hours and 22 minutes in the air over the past year.

Using Paramount Business Jets emissions calculator, Fox News found that Kerry's planed accumulated an estimated 166 metric tons of carbon between trips dating from Feb. 9, 2020, to Jan. 10, 2021.

For comparison, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that the typical passenger vehicle emits about 4.6 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year. That calculation assumed a car that drives around 11,500 miles per year with a fuel economy of about 22.0 miles per gallon.

Nothing compared to the number of tons Trump's planes and support aircraft and vehicles emitted in ferrying him back and forth just  to play golf.

There's a great line from a fairly new play called Lungs, which I saw at the Old Vic a couple of years ago. It's about a very modern couple trying to have a child.  Great actors: Matt Smith and Claire Foy.

The wife says 'I could fly to New York and back every day for seven years and still not leave a carbon footprint as big as if I have a child. Ten thousand tonnes of CO2. That's the weight of the Eiffel Tower. I'd be giving birth to the Eiffel Tower.'

So, I think concern about flying is overrated, in terms of the environment. I don't have children and I don't drive. So when my neighbors ask me why I don't take my potato skins down to the compost bin, I brag about how minuscule my carbon footprint is. I think we should limit the number of children people can have!

Kerry has two children, a good limit. I think he's entitled to fly once in a while.

This Kerry story could be much more serious than you guys think:    rumor is that the two voters that committed voter fraud in MA may have been brought from out of state on Kerry's plane.

I saw David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet (2020) the other night which I would highly recommend.  It seems that buildings, not cars, animals or planes are the biggest culprit.  We have to start building better ecological homes and offices.
