Man who wore horns at US Capitol to get organic food in jail

A judge on Wednesday ordered corrections authorities to provide organic food to an Arizona man accused of participating in the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol while sporting face paint, no shirt and a furry hat with horns.

The order came after a lawyer for defendant Jacob Chansley complained that his client had gone the past nine days without eating because organic food isn’t served at the Washington jail where he’s housed.

Chansley has lost 20 pounds since being transferred from Arizona to Washington last week, said his attorney, Albert Watkins. Chansley, who calls himself the “QAnon Shaman,” considers eating organic food to be part of his “shamanic belief system and way of life,” the lawyer said.

Three weeks ago, when he was jailed in Arizona on charges stemming from the Jan. 6. riot, Chansley went days without eating because the detention facility there didn’t offer organic food. The U.S. Marshals Service in Arizona said it “reached an appropriate course of action regarding the dietary needs of Jacob Chansley" but declined to say whether he had been given organic food.

In asking for organic food behind bars, Chansley made a religious liberty argument and said he has been following such a diet for eight years while practicing Shamanism.

He can thank the democrats and all of their reforms to the penal system for this. Maybe he can sue to get a celebrity chef as well.

There are existing rules that require Federal and state officials to meet religious requirements.   These were mostly put in place due to request from the Jewish community.  Funny how it is anti-Semitics like this a-hole that can now also benefit.

These rules are bogus.    Everyone should have to be jailed under the same conditions.   No BS religious exceptions.

People with religious requirements should avoid breaking the law if they wish to maintain their defined religious requirements.

Those so called hamburgers taste like they're made from sawdust. Yuck!

Feed that to me in prison, it will be breaking the law about cruel and unusual punishment.

I'm surprised that a supporter of Trump would be into organic food, when Trump's  favorite meal is a Big Mac.

It doesn't surprise me. I find (in my own small sampling of people) that some people who take special diets are paranoid, meaning they think "There's something in there that's out to get me."

Naturally, some people have good reason for special diets, but then there are those like the horn_y guy for whom it is probably the same sort of paranoia/conspiracy that propelled him to support Trump.

I see nothing wrong in letting him out escorted by two guards to the nearest grassy field and letting him graze.  And too, maybe his defense team can b paid by the revenue gained by bagging and selling his manure to gardening centers,

And if he's aquitted, he can get a job replacing THIS  TV star.....?

Well I was just cracking wise with the Big Mac crack,  but you do have a valid point about special diets being tied to the "same sort of paranoia/conspiracy".

Maybe one of his other heroes is this guy:

You'd think a QAnon shaman would have the power to turn a Big Mac into a tofu burger.

This clown may care about what he puts into his body,  but he sure doesn't care about what he puts into his mind.

Makes one wonder what's up there--a whole lot of empty space or an attic filled with junk.

I bet Joe is generous enough to send him a stimulus check and get him a covid shot before the rest of us, that's the way they system now works.

So what happened to all that sympathy you previously had for the Capitol rioters, MM, and your claims that the media was hounding the poor things?

Have you changed your mind or do you just have a thing against dudes who paint their faces, wear buffalo horns and call themselves shamans?

My dad's office was in a Depression era building with a fallout shelter in the basement.   Our schools had them too, but we were never allowed down there.  When he took us to the office on the weekends,  I'd poke around in the basement.  Surprisingly, there were barrels full of CD supplies that were not locked away.  There were also barrels of water.  The barrels could be used as a toilet when it was empty.  This would've been in the late 60s or early 70s.  I'm sure that stuff had been put down there during the Kennedy administration.

Ever think they make a great tornado shelter - wouldn't have been a waste of time building them after all.

Heard the crackers are edible (depending on environmental conditions) but be a bit stale. If trapped could have food and water until rescued.

Definitely used as tornado shelters, and the CD sirens were used for that as well (still are).  I haven't seen a fallout shelter sign in years.  Guess they finally got them all taken down.

With trump in the White House we might have been using them as fallout shelters, so they definitely would not have been a waste of time.

I can't picture why anyone would vote for someone so erratic, unstable, unqualified and lacking in human empathy to be in charge of nuclear weapons.😱
