The Ten Commandments 65th Anniversary

Recommended Posts

I got to see this on the big screen a few years ago as part of TCM's Fathom Events and was surprised at just how good a film it is. Of course it benefits by being seen in a theater and not on TV.  Anne Baxter has to deliver some overripe dialogue, but the political theme is especially well done, as Pharaoh (Sir Cedric Hardwicke) has to decide whether Charlton Heston or Yul Brynner will be the best successor. Very good work by Hardwicke, Nina Foch, and Martha Scott among others. Brynner and Heston are both perfectly cast.

Like "Exodus - Gods and Kings" better, not over dramatic in acting.

(oh thats the Reed (Sea of Reeds) NOT Red Sea - mistranslated)

Am puzzled why a boy is the voice of God.

Oh.  The movie.

Yeah.  I thought the actual ten commandments were much older.

...and missing 603 commandments? ;)
