NipkowDisc
tcm is bringing it back to theatres but I think I will just watch it even though it's chopped up with commercials on ABC next saturday 3/4 at seven... THE TEN COMMANDMENTS! split that red sea, chuck. "thou didst blow with thy winds and the sea covered them, who is like unto thee O' Lord?... from everlasting to everlasting, Thou art God!" 1
DougieB
I'll be watching/recording it on ABC too. It's amazing how good the remastered print is now, based on the ads for the broadcast. Smaller screen, but it'll be way good enough for me. I'm sure the staff-into-serpent trick will look even faker in higher definition, but the movie is basically one big, beautiful, glossy, overblown fake-out anyway. That's show biz (or is it just DeMille?). Now, over to you, Moses, you stubborn, splendid, adorable fool!
Sepiatone
I still have my still excellent looking VHS cassette of it, so go play with your streaming toys and dvr nonsense. I never have to wait for Passover or any other holiday if I wish to see it. Sepiatone

TomJH
There was a major downpour of rain the other day and as I walked my dog I saw that a bridge over a creek was covered with a deep pool of water. I made the mistake of walking along a sidewalk on that bridge just as a car sped through it, throwing two huge waves of the pool high into the air, one of them completely drenching us. Those two waves had me thinking about Moses at the time, except he had had assistance to remain dry. 1

(March isn't the time to get drenched, so sorry about that.)

Too bad the place where Moses parted the waters were not. Reed or Sea of Reeds NOT Red Sea,....Yam Suph (Hebrew: ים קנה) One other thing to consider, the area we see today wouldn't be the same as back then due to geological changes. The shallow depth of the Sea of Reeds makes it more likely the theory of wind set down. There was a similar event witnessed at a lagoon in February 1882, when British Army Major-General Alexander Tulloch reported a gale of wind from the eastward set in and became so strong that I had to cease work. The next morning, he said found the lake had totally disappeared...and the natives were walking about on the mud.

I haven't attended any of their events because there's no showing that isn't a 2-3 hour drive, but I'd find a way to get to see this one on a big screen.

I was taken to see The Egyptian when I was a small child. For years, I would occasionally dream about a man with an eye patch who removes the patch, takes a ruby out of his eye socket, to buy passage on a ship for himself and a child. Until I saw The Egyptian again, decades later, I didn't remember that my dream scene was from that great film. I also remembered the beautiful shades of blue in that film, without remembering which film it was. My favorite epic! The last time I saw it, it was on the Fox film channel. 1

Wonder how you'd feel about Bella if she were, say, about 45 feet taller, Nip??? Seems you like the softer look in a woman and unlike Bella's more chiseled features. (...and regardless how tall the women might be) 1
