I saw her at the film festival. I was close enough to speak to her, but too shy to dare. I did take a picture of her. I'm not remembering how to post pix on the Board or I'd show it to you. I, too, am a big Barbara Rush fan. She still looks terrific and classy. > > And the chocolate shake I had at the Disney store. It took me two hours to finish it. CineMaven
"She still looks terrific and classy." She does, and she paints her own shoes. SueSue Applegate actually spoke with her. I'm Chicken Little. "Did they call it something like a Mickey Malted?" I'm not sure it had a name, but dude I was working it. My jaws are now ready for anything. "John's a good-looking boy, but not quite the spit of Jack." No, but that's okay too. He looks kind of cruel But maybe that's b'cuz he's not smiling. He's got that Keefe Brasselle/John Derek thing goin' on. Guess it's that shiny hair. You know, a little dab'll do ya. P.S. As for Bela, his eyes don't look hypnotic...they look psychotic. And Rudy is really giving me that Turhan Bey-vibe. My Massachusetts friend should be printing me up a copy of that dark picture of Rudy, as we speak. THAT'S going on my wall. :x
Bronxgirl48
I was going to mention John Derek re: John Drew Barrymore. Keefe Brasselle though I think was in a class by himself: Dirtbag. I almost expected John Williams to whip out his moustache comb in triumph after breaking up Paul and Barbara in THE YOUNG PHILADELPHIANS. ri I think if Rudy continued to work in front of the camera, instead of deciding to direct and/or produce, he might well have fallen into Turhan Bey territory during the mid to late '40's. Hopefully, though, Valentino could have gotten some good solid Boyer-type parts in that time period, and possibly beyond, a la Chevalier too. I'm off to do some grocery shopping, see you guys later. I didn't see Rudy at Walgreens. I've got to get that ouija board! Edited by: Bronxgirl48 on Jun 10, 2011 1:22 PM
Bronxgirl48
You're right about Rudy as Gatsby; I can see it! What about Rudy and Marilyn in THE PRINCE AND THE SHOWGIRL? Edited by: Bronxgirl48 on Jun 10, 2011 1:35 PM
Bronxgirl48
Oh DRAT, that photo didn't upload. It's Rudy in formal wear with Natascha (I think it's her) and another couple on a lawn -- in back of them is a West Egg (or was it East Egg) type house. Very Fitzgeraldish. I'll try later. Bronxgirl48
I'm so glad you could access Rudy-as-Gatsby. I can't anymore. Not sure what this photo is all about. Is he visiting a girl's orphanage? What a sweetheart! Whose hand is on Rudy's shoulder, lol? They just can't let him go! . Bronxgirl48
I'm not loving Rudy's moustache. This hardly looks like him, except from the neck down. How cute are the socks? Edited by: Bronxgirl48 on Jun 11, 2011 2:14 AM

JackFavell
I got distracted as I looked at the socks... Am I crazy or were men's swimsuits back then wonderful? Rudy's stache doesn't do anything for me, and I usually like mustaches. Not quite so dapper in this picture, is he? I bet this is early on, he looks skinnier too. CineMaven
He looks better with the goatee. Aaaaah swimming...swimming. The one legal way folks had of seeing...folks. Now, enough of this frivolity and let me get to my real question: ?Now is not the time to tell you I don't like Jean Simmons either, is it? I know. I'm a freak of nature.? - << ( JACK FAVELL ) >> - 6/10/11 Why?
JackFavell
I know I know... Well, it's not that she isn't a good actress, because she is. And I did really really like her in *Home Before Dark.* I think it's that I have a feeling of coldness from her. That she's not really there - I don't know if this makes sense.... I can't warm up to her. I don't bond, or empathize. I find her remote.

Bronxgirl48
Although....already it looks like he's wearing that slave bracelet, and, a pinky ring. Okay, so he's probably in America.. Edited by: Bronxgirl48 on Jun 11, 2011 5:42 PM
