Bronxgirl48
In NEVER SAY GOODBYE, her character is named "Cozy". Can I get another Oy!
Bronxgirl48
> I totally agree - Gable is brilliant in The Misfits. It's an Oscar performance. And I think Eli should have won Best Supporting Actor.
CineMaven
Gable...in the sixties. To think he lived that long. He gave a fantastic performance in "THE MISFITS." As I was watching, I got the impression that the dysfunctional family they formed made me think of "REBEL WITHHOUT A CAUSE."
FredCDobbs
>Is anyone else getting a headache from THE MALE ANIMAL? >Talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, Give me a break. I was thinking the same thing, especially the drunk talk. It was meaningless and it went on and on. They should have cut out about 20 to 30 minutes of that stuff. The Vanzetti "letter" was not a letter at all. It was written by a newspaper reporter after he interviewed Vanzetti, and it was supposed to be a quote or a paraphrase of what Vanzetti had said to him while in jail. Bronxgirl48
Would you beiieve I've never seen REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE all the way through? James Dean, I don't know... One thing I don't understand about THE MISFITS is Thelma Ritter as a Southern belle with a heavy New York accent. She's supposed to be from Virginia, which I find ridiculous. Other than that, it's a great movie, lol.
Dargo
> ...Er, weren't Yvonne and Clark "going together" off-screen, around that time? Well Bronxgirl, then evidently Yvonne was makin' the rounds back then...at LEAST according to Bernie Schwartz here anyway..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_HTyfCHAAU :^
CineMaven
Marilyn needed someone to chaperone her. Who better to do that than New York Southern belle Thelma Ritter? Anybody got a paddle and ball? 1...2...3...4...5...6... Oh, silly question: how the heck old ARE these college students in "TOO MANY GIRLS"?? They look like they're pushing thirty. Bronxgirl48
Fred, the only "political" comedy I really enjoy, and think is great, is NINOTCHKA. Anything else, and I'm reaching for the Advil. A great cast in THE MALE ANIMAL, but I couldn't watch all the way through.

CineMaven
Look at Van Johnson...He's a chorus boy in the front lines. Did a somersault too. Light on his feet for a big man.
JackFavell
*Would you beiieve I've never seen REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE all the way through? James Dean, I don't know...* Oh Dean is really good in it, despite the slightly overblown way that the kids' plight is portrayed. After years of thinking he might not be all that, I'm coming back around to liking him again.
JackFavell
I missed Van. :_| I kinda like this new "cry" emoticon.
Bronxgirl48
Herbert Anderson, aww, he was so skinny and nerdy, with that pipe. Kind of endearing but I need a little more meat on my men, lol. I like that emoticon too. It reminds me of (in the words of a Rudy blogger).Valentino's "sad, mushy face" when a woman of his dreams is out of reach. I like Van. Versatile actor, willing to stretch himself. But that police drama, what was the name of it? Van has a record, he's now married with a son, but people won't let him forget his past. The plot took a drastic tragic turn I didn't buy. Edited by: Bronxgirl48 on Jul 18, 2011 12:53 AM

Bronxgirl48
HA!! Oh, thank you, Jackie!!! I think that's from SON OF THE SHEIK, when he's being tortured, my poor mushy baby, and the villains want to know where Yasmin is. A YouTube poster comments that Rudy asleep or unconscious "looks like an archangel". It's true. JackFavell
I love that scene, where Rudy is asleep. He's so sweet looking. You made me giggle with that picture of poor Herbert, right after talking about Rudy.

Bronxgirl48
Is it SLANDER? I was watching this celebrity chef, Todd English, on one of the shopping networks, and immediately thought of you -- because he looked like Steve Cochran.
