JackFavell
I laughed my head off watching *Sweet Smell of Success* recently... Burt Lancaster described Tony Curtis as haivng a "street urchin look". He totally does!
Bronxgirl48
Oh my gosh, LOL, I don't remember that line from SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS. Tony (and he does have the look, lol) is one urchin I maybe wouldn't mind stopping me with "Hey, lady!"
Bronxgirl48
John Ridgely...I'm trying to connect the name with a face, forgive me. Do we see him as often as Donald Crisp? Discussion With Mom During Shopping Break: Mom: I saw THE OLD MAID. Me: I started watching, but couldn't get through it. Mom: It was good. I like George Brent, but Herbert Marshall is so stiff. Me: I don't think Herbert Marshall is in THE OLD MAID. Mom: He's not? Me: No, he's in THE LETTER. Mom: Oh, yes. He's not as romantic as George Brent. And he had a wooden leg. Me: So because Herbert Marshall had a wooden leg, that makes him a wooden actor? Mom: Not exactly, but it made him maybe walk differently. Me: I could never tell. Mom: George Brent was nice. A girl could fall in love with him. Me: He had his moments. So you're saying Herbert Marshall couldn't make a girl fall in love with him? Mom: I don't think so. Bronxgirl48
Ryan has a Leslie Howard-ish look to me: V-e-r-y nice! I'll have to side with Mom and George Brent. (but not in THE SPIRAL STAIRCASE) But poor Herbert, he needs a good woman....what with Bette giving him grief and worse in THE LETTER and THE LITTLE FOXES. Did he ever have a happy screen romance? Bronxgirl48
LOL I love the sensitive Brits -- Leslie, Ronald, Bob Donat, etc. But now I'm looking for a modern-day Rudy. PLEASE FIND ME ONE. So that's John Ridgely, ha! He looks so familiar, and yet it's like I've never ever seen him before. I think Madame **** is Mom's best yet, but she's always topping herself. When I mentioned this latest mangle, she does the usual denial, "I NEVER said that!"
Bronxgirl48
Paul Rudd has a nice face. He reminds me of Isaac Mizrahi.
JackFavell
OH MY GOSH...you have got to get yourself out to see Crazy Stupid Love, Mava. You would not believe how good Ryan Gosling was. I have liked him in everything I'v'e seen him in so far. He's one of those actors who you never catch acting. And his abs....good grief! There's even a line about them in the movie. Hilarious. JackFavell
No, Herbert Marshall never had a happy romance in the movies. I find him very attractive. I'd like to burn through that quiet reserve sometime. Paul Rudd's a cutie too.
Bronxgirl48
You've got me interested now in Ryan. If he acts as good as he looks, I'm there. Just tell me George Clooney isn't in this movie, because I hate him, lol.

CineMaven
Jackaaaaay, I will see the movie tomorrow. Ryan Gosling has done consistently good work. He plays a racist **** in one film and then falls in love with a blow-up doll in another film. You believe him in both. You've got to catch him in "FRACTURE" where he stands toe-to-toe opposite Anthony Hopkins. Good actor. Bronxie...Isaac Mizrahi?!!! Good god girl, I won't let you kill my buzz...I won't let you kill my buzz...I won't let you kill my buzzz... I won't let you k I'm tellin' your mother. What's her number? I'd like to burn through that quiet reserve sometime. Herbert Marshall. Well...I'm sure still waters run deep. In yesterday's Bette Davis documentary, they showed a scene from "The Little Foxes" when she says: "I hope you die. I hope you die soon. I'll be waiting for you to die." That's got to be the cruelest thing I ever heard, next to: "With all my heart, I still love the man I killed." And Bronxie saying she hates George Clooney. BETE NOIR ALERT!! BETE NOIR ALERT!!! JackFavell
Rent yourself *The Notebook*, Bronxie, and sit back and enjoy. He's just so believeable, like Mava said. Never a false note. He's the best thing about *Crazy Stupid Love*, and it's got a good cast.

CineMaven
I find Steve Carrell very attractive, but is he playing a schlub again? And tell me, how is Julianne Moore? She's my girl. Oh, and that kid Emma Stone. Saw her in "Easy A" and she was spectacular! (She's about to be in a movie with Ron Howard's daughter Bryce called "The Help." It stars another amazing actress: Viola Davis). What were you doing in 1980? Mrs. Gosling was giving birth to Ryan. Yikes! Will we be arrested right here at our computers??? I'm in my ratty old pajamas. Hey, I just heard a knock...

Bronxgirl48
I'm liking him here: Paul Rudd reminds me of my Yonkers cousins. THE NOTEBOOK, eh? The thing is, though, that I'm gravitating towards European men now, more and more.
JackFavell
Please! DON'T tell me how old he is.... I don't want to know..... yes, Steve Carell is a schlub. I was just slightly disappointed in his character at first, because I thought it was similar to 40 Year Old Virgin. But he ends up being good. Julianne is very good, she can't do anything wrong. Emma Stone was fantastic. The two younger stars really blew me away.
