I'll check out TADPOLE. Never heard of it before.

You pegged that right Bronxie; Upper West Side/upper middle class folks coming from either the Baronet or the Coronet (or Cinema 1,2 or 3)...OR The Beekman or The Sutton, having seen an esoteric movie and using argument as foreplay. After VALENTINO Dexter did several low-budget actioners. He also starred in FIRE MAIDENS OF OUTER SPACE, which of course I'd love to see. (hmm, wonder if it's on YouTube...)

The resemblance is remarkable, and the Valentino connection really makes it, dare I say, "colorful"!

Hey Miss G. and Bronxie,

I must admit that *George Raft* seems like *Laurence Olivier* when compared to the acting I've seen by Anthony Dexter--but then I've never seen *Fire Maidens of Outer Space*, though I did torture myself once by watching *Valentino* (1951) and *Captain Kidd and the Slave Girl* (1954) in the past. (What can I say, I liked pirate movies. If you do, you can see it [here|http://www.hulu.com/watch/71578/captain-kidd-and-the-slave-girl] ).

In any case, I came across this interview with *Marsha Hunt* [here|http://blog.allanellenberger.com/book-flm-news/marsha-hunt-on-anthony-dexter/] in which she speaks quite a bit about *Anthony Dexter*, who seems to have had a crush on her (didn't everyone with good taste?).

Oh!

Right after I wrote that last unnecessary snarky remark, it just occurred to me that one reason to _like_ George Raft is because he isn't Laurence Olivier...and even Olivier probably didn't want to be Olivier either...or why be an actor?

Gotta go *Beyond the Sound Barrier* now with Nigel Patrick and Ralph Richardson. I NEED a few hours of British cinema, black and white style. Ta, ta, darlings.

Hi, moira! I have a very hard time picturing Eva Gabor as the slave girl.

OH...how that brings it all back. As you know, I adore St. Remy...it's even more charming than that video, if you can believe it. And, at least in the summertime, the night life is actually the perfect blend of active, musical and civilized. There is an old timey carousel in the parking area in front of one of the hotels I stayed at, which used to be the home of composer Charles Gounod (of "March of the Marrionettes" fame). It's so lovely.

Sigh.

> I came back to my senses and did continue watching THE SOUND BARRIER.

I watched most of it. Interesting film, with a few recognizable David Lean visuals. I wonder if it's based on a true story?

And Nostradamus was born there! (Maybe one of his quatrains mentions me moving to St. Remy)

And if I adore the city the way it looks during the off season, I can only imagine the splendor of the summer!

I think it might have been based on a true story. I'd forgotten that my Brit sweetie Nigel Patrick was in it. So I didn't catch the Lean visuals -- was too busy focusing on Nigel, ha! The film wasn't too thrilling, though, I found myself nodding off, even with him and Ralph Richardson around.

I agree, it was not one of Lean's most entertaining movies. I thought about you when I saw Nigel Patrick. :)

You're right...NOT that Eve.

Thought of you when I watched "BUCKET OF BLOOD." I enjoyed it. And Barboura Morris (horseface I think you called her) of "WASP WOMAN" fame was very good in it as well. Yeah, you might say that ain't sayin' much...but nonetheless she did a good job. I really think she should have had a better career.

Good to see ya on the Board.

Oh, forget movies...tell me...tell US, how was your Mother's Day with your Mom?????????????

Your public wants to know!!

And Ann Todd was at her most "British" -- "Oh, Tony, what does it all mean?" Eh.

Ah, you knew how much I love my handsome, civilized Nigel! He's very British, too...(but in the best way, ha!)

Ooh, I don't think I've seen BOB, at least not that I can remember, and that's not good. It must not have made an impression on me (the way Corman's LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS does) So Barboura's good, eh?

I'm sorry to say that Mom wasn't feeling well enough this holiday to celebrate. I was about to make reservations to take us to Pastis, a French bistro specializing in Provencal food, but that didn't happen because she had a mild fainting spell and is waiting for doctor's tests to tell her what the heck's the matter. She needs to build up her strength, eat more protein, and not tool about in her car when she should be relaxing at home.

She's relaxing now, watching Robert Taylor, and munching on cheese and crackers.

Thank you for inquiring after her.
