Oooh, I forgot about him there. I had thought Cary was a Nick in MR. LUCKY, but no, he's a Joe. (Drat, I wish I'd had my first Richard Conte experience in anything other than I'LL CRY TOMORROW....) lavenderblue19
I thought about Cary as a Nick in Mr. Lucky also. Gee, I should have called you when I was 10 and went to see *Oceans Eleven* at the David Marcus theatre on Jerome Ave!! lol! Bronxgirl48
Chalk up three more Nicks for Joseph Calleia other than RIFFRAFF: Nick Craig in THE NOOSE HANGS HIGH, Dr. Nicholas Moryani in LURED, and Nick Varna in THE GLASS KEY.
JackFavell
I'm positively swooney for Joseph Calleia, Nick or not. I looked up Edward Brophy, thinking he might have played a Nick or two, but no...he was Bugsy, Killer, Porky, Goldie, Torso, Weepie, Dwarfie, Potsy, Stuffy, Dixie, Dippy, Roxy, Sleeper and Nosey... but not a Nick in the lot. My whole perspective on Richard Conte would have been so different if you'd called, lol.... Hey! I'm getting a Nick feeling about Paul Lukas. I'm sure there's one in his filmography. Let's look! Bronxgirl48
Sure enough about Paul Lukas: Nick Bederaux in EXPERIMENT PERILOUS, Nick Pogli in HALFWAY TO HEAVEN, and Dr. Nicholas Faber in TOMORROW AND TOMORROW.

LOL I'm getting another Nick vibe. Sheldon Leonard.
JackFavell
Oh Lordy! Sheldon's gonna win. 2 Nicks for Robert Ryan - Born to Be Bad and The Racket.
JackFavell
2 Nicks for Edouardo Cianelli - Nick the Greek and Nick Petroni
lavenderblue19
Not sure where this one should go but he was a warlock mischief - Jack Lemmon- Nicky Holroyd in *Bell, Book and Candle* .
Bronxgirl48
In addition to Sheldon's Nick the bartender in IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, , he's got two more: Nick Sampson in BREAKDOWN, and Nick Julian in MADONNA OF THE DESERT. Quite the respectable showing. Two for Ryan? Wow, I never would have thunk it. Does Ray Milland count in ALIAS NICK BEAL as you-know-who? (the ultimate "foreigner". Although as Walter Huston reminds us in THE DEVIL AN DANIEL WEBSTER, this particular gentleman is also as American as apple pie, ha!)

I should have had him on my Nick radar screen!
JackFavell
I think he counts - you know, I have *Alias Nick Beal* - my dad gave me a copy and told me I had to watch it, so I didn't. He said it was great. Maybe I actually should pop it in. I would have thought Sheldon would be the hands down winner, if Georgie Tobias didn't get it. cinemafan
Mornin' all - before I leave the house on errands - Two Nicks that come to the top of my mind - Desi Arnaz in *The Long, Long Trailer*. I always find it funny that Lucy is calling Ricky "Nicky". In *A Star in the Night*, J. Carrol Naish plays the motel owner - Nick. He is very memorable. He probably has some more Nicks on his resume somewhere. take care, all - cinemafan (can't preview, so I will Post Message)

Tyrone Power is now telling me there just might be a Nick in his filmography, but I'm going to have lunch, so if anyone wants to do the honors, please feel free. JackFavell
Oooh, hi there, Cinemafan! I love The Long Long Trailer. Great choice! Edgar Buchanan played no Nicks, but he did play nine judges, nine "Doc's", and 6 Uncles. SO much for my E.S. P. abilities.
lavenderblue19
I've got 2 baddies and one good guy. Warner Oland - Nick (ran the brothel) *Mandalay* Ricardo Cortez - Nicky - *Flesh* I've been hearing Doris' voice calling out Nicky for hours! ( I think this is starting to get to me - HA) James Garner- Nicky Arden-- *Move Over Darling*
JackFavell
Ricarrrrrdo Cortez.... mmm mm. That's my kind of Nicky.
Bronxgirl48
cinemafan, you're right on the money with J. Carrol Naish! Why didn't he cross my mind?? (or, what passes for my mind) An excellent character actor, and definitely fertile Nick material. I love STAR IN THE NIGHT, and he's great in it, very realistic depiction of that character type. Thanks to you, I've just found two more Naish Nicks -- Nick Trotti in WE WHO ARE ABOUT TO DIE, and Nick Duvalle from THE TOAST OF NEW ORLEANS. I love that you mentioned Desi as Nicky in THE LONG, LONG TRAILER. At one point, I think Lucy accidentally calls him Ricky, lol. I would have sworn Ty Power had at least one Nick in him but alas, no. Ditto John Hodiak.
Bronxgirl48
Oh, wow, YES, Ricardo Cortez! Brilliant, lavender! He's another who should have shown up on my Nicky radar screen. Warner Oland as a Nick, this is a terrific find, I'm so excited! And James Garner joins in the fun, too! He's an "upper-class" Nick, like William Powell in The Thin Man series. Bronxgirl48
I saw ALIAS NICK BEAL when I was a kid, and Ray was scary to me then. Handsome as Milland is, he does have those sinister-looking eyebrows that work very effectively in his less benign roles. (like DIAL M FOR MURDER for example) I'm going to have to tally up the actors with the most Nicks, do some comparisons. Sheldon and George have a lot of competition. Bronxgirl48
Nicks for Karloff and Lugosi. Boris: General Nicholas Pherides in ISLE OF THE DEAD. Two for Bela: Nicholas Harmon in his silent THE MIDNIGHT GIRL, and General Nicholas Petronovich in INTERNATIONAL HOUSE. Peter Lorre, too: Nick Dramoshag in QUICKSAND. lavenderblue19
I think you've got Vincent for *Dragonwyck* not sure if you already have this, but I just thought of Nicholas Medina - *The Pit and The Pendulum* for Vincent Price. ( another one at the David Marcus!)
