She wears this perpetual sweet wee hair bow and is as cute as a June bug. Sultry at the same time. Lana and Richard Carlson make such an adorable couple! I can't tell you how much I enjoyed that little film, it was an unexpected pleasure. I'll have to go back through my Lana-files and see! I don't recall any with Carlson in particular. I saw this movie a few years ago and I was surprised that I enjoyed it, too. I put it there with *Slightly Dangerous* as two of Lana's "fun" fluffies from the period, though doesn't DCE take a rather grim turn at one point? Or am I confusing it with another movie? I don't want to give any spoilers away.

SansFin
> {quote:title=Bronxgirl48 wrote:}{quote} > I'm also desperately on the hunt for THAT VILLA. WHERE IS IT????? I am sorry to say I cannot provide an address. I found a reference which states the location was: 'St. Tropez, near Cavali?re, Var' and: 'In the villa owned by Peter Lazareff and Helene Lazareff, specified by Myl?ne Demongeot in his autobiography secret drawers *Editions Le Pr? clerics* 2001 (ISBN 2842281314)'. If you use the satellite feature of Google Maps and compare the topography to what can be seen in the background in the movie you may be able to come very close to finding its exact location. SansFin
> {quote:title=JackFavell wrote:}{quote} > "Near Cavaliere" I would love to spend a vacation trying to find it! It should be possible to go to the tourist bureau and find what you wish to know. In most places they are very proud of movies and stars in the area. I will suggest you do not go to the area from Cavalaire-sur-Mer to Le Lavandou if you have no other reason for going there because there are so many foreigners and so many cater to them rather than being truly French. I found the coast from Cabasson to La Londe-les-Maures much more interesting. It was a wonderful mix of truly rustic and very private high luxury. The last time I was there it was May of 1994 but I do not think things change much over time in that part of France.
SansFin
> {quote:title=MissGoddess wrote:}{quote} > Maybe I will do "Google Earth" tonight.... I have not seen the movie in a very long time and I do not have a copy so I have no way to try to match the scenery in it to the topographic maps. In a very rough estimate I believe the area may be found by going to Google Maps and paste 43.148977,6.416852 into the search box. You should use 'Satellite' icon on upper left of map. According to the Fox Movietone Music Cue Sheet for the SUNNYSIDE UP the title of the name of the song is "It's Great to Be Necked", and it was written by Buddy DeSylva, Lew Brown & Ray Henderson, as were the other songs in the movie. Two of the songs in SUNNYSIDE UP became very big hits at the time: "Aren't We All" and "If I Had a Talking Picture of You". In fact if you're into collecting 78 RPM records or movie-related sheet music of the period you can't avoid them! I can't even count how many 78's I have on which those two songs are coupled on the A & B sides by various bands and singers. The song "Turn On the Heat" was also recorded several times, and "You've Got Me Pickin' Petals Off of Daisies" a few times. If you might want to search for a recording of "It's Great to Be Necked" I'm afraid all you can do is to make a recording from the movie's soundtrack, as I have never seen any evidence that it was ever recorded like the other songs from the movie. JackFavell
That's great info, MusicalNovelty! I thought Marjorie White was fantastic in SSU. Bronxgirl - As for Lionel, I really wish I could have found you a copy of *Looking Forward*, he's sensational in it - the only thing I could find was this clip. The good news is, it's on TCM every once in a while. The bad news is, it isn't scheduled, at least that I know of. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9iGnM9UsjQ
JackFavell
It's too bad that that area was taken over by tourists - one of the charms of it is that it looks so completely french and nary a tourist in site, except at the casino.

lzcutter
Barb, If you haven't read Furious Love, the story of her and Richard Burton and their life-long love for one another, be sure you read it. It's a wonderful book and shows a side of Elizabeth and Richard we have rarely seen.

Bronxgirl48
SansFin, words can't express my gratitude on the information you've provided about our Tristesse villa!!! Gosh, I'm thrilled to know this! You described my ideal decor mix for the Mediterranean: rustic with luxurious touches (or, vice versa) http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk/cavalaire-sur-mer/s/13047/fa/find.squery
Bronxgirl48
I was really shocked to hear of Elizabeth's death. I didn't know she suffered from congestive heart failure, which is an irreversible condition. Taylor was always in delicate health, of course, but she was such a survivor, I thought we'd have her for another decade. Spectacular photos of one of the world's most beautiful women, Goddess, and a true star in every sense of the word.

Thanks, Lynn! I remember reading some really lovely and eloquent letters from Richard to Liz, wherein he reveals a nurturing and tender side to him (as well as an intellectual one) Could it be from this book? CineMaven
Dr. Hoffman was the obstetrician to Dr. Quinada's pediatrician in that little doctor's office. He was always running out or rushing in. Plus he gave Leonora the good bad news. ...And he chewed gum, but he wasn't wearing mink or chinchilla. He had a great quiet way of conversation. How are the boys enjoying their weekend retreat?
